Baby Yoda's disturbing egg-eating in The Mandalorian is supposed to be funny. Mando and Baby Yoda faced several new challenges in chapter 10 of the hit Disney Plus series titled "The Passenger." New episodes of The Mandalorian season two will premiere every Friday until December 18th, with this season focusing on Mando returning the Child to his people.

The little baby alien that's become synonymous with cuteness in the internet sphere took a surprising turn in "The Passenger." When Mando was tasked with transporting a Frog Lady and her eggs to the next sector over in order for her to propagate the last of her species, Baby Yoda had other ideas. While there was certainly a lot going on in the episode, the running gag of the episode was Baby Yoda continually sneaking away from Mando in order to eat the Frog Lady's eggs. Baby Yoda's morally questionable snacking attempts divided fans into those who didn't approve of the new cute yet carnivorous Baby Yoda and those who thought it was hilarious.

Lucasfilm's creative arts manager and author of multiple Star Wars art books Phil Szostak had his thoughts on Baby Yoda egg-gate. Szostak made some interesting points about the episode and said Baby Yoda's actions were clearly meant to be a running gag. Check out Szostak's entire post on the matter below.

Szostak definitely makes some great points about the matter. The strong fan reaction to Baby Yoda eating the Frog Lady's eggs just continues to demonstrate how powerful the character's cultural impact is. After all, Lucasfilm has already turned the eggs from the episode into a Funko Pop toy complete with a hungry, happy Baby Yoda, called "The Child with Egg Canister." While it is disturbing to see the epitome of cuteness chowing down on the last of someone's species, it's a great reminder that Baby Yoda is in fact a baby, and an alien baby at that.

After all, there was a scene from season 1 of Baby Yoda snacking on a frog as well. While that scene obviously isn't the same as eating the last eggs of a species, it's another indicator that Baby Yoda lacks the capability to understand the implications of his snacking actions. And that in itself actually adds a nice layer to Baby Yoda's character. Can Baby Yoda be corrupted? Or will he grow up to be a wise and just hero like Jedi Master Yoda? Either way, it's hard to deny it was rather hilarious to watch Baby Yoda sneaky attempts for egg snacks. Regardless of what happens, it's great that The Mandalorian took a risk in allowing Baby Yoda to be a bit disturbing.
