New fan-art imagines The Mandalorian's Baby Yoda becoming Darth Grogu. Ever since the 50-year-old Force-sensitive infant who's from the same species as Jedi Master Yoda was introduced, he's quickly become a fan-favorite. But following the revelation of his backstory in the latest episode of The Mandalorian, he might be set down the dark path like Anakin Skywalker.

Thanks to their shared connection to the Force, Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Baby Yoda were able to communicate non-verbally, allowing the Child to reveal his origins. As it turns out, he grew up in the Jedi Temple in Coruscant where he was trained by many masters. However, when Order 66 was executed, he was hidden by an unknown being, after which, he was left to take care of himself. He had been surviving on his own for years until Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) found him at the end of The Mandalorian premiere. Between his traumatic past and his developed attachment to Mando, Ahsoka said that Grogu has a lot of fears in him, making him vulnerable to the dark side.

Given this reveal, Fandom took the idea and imagined what Baby Yoda would look like if he succumbs to the dark side moving forward. In their The Mandalorian art, they give the Child his very own red lightsaber, cloak, and a menacing look, dubbing him Darth Grogu. Check out the image below:

Frankly, it's difficult to imagine Baby Yoda becoming sinister; even in the aforementioned fan-art, he looks more like a child having a terrible phase rather than becoming deeply evil. It has something to do with The Mandalorian's depiction of Grogu thus far, not to mention his adorable character design. While he's exhibited dark side tendencies like Force-choking Cara Dune (Gina Carano) in season 1, and munching on Frog Lady's eggs and stealing cookies in season 2, all of those were chalked up to him being an infant who simply doesn't know better. It's curious to what extent The Mandalorian will be exploring this dark side of Grogu which as Ahsoka said is there and could come out if triggered.

Whether or not Baby Yoda goes down the same path as Anakin Skywalker and becomes Darth Grogu is uncertain. Thankfully, Ahsoka recognized his attachment to Din and decided not to separate him from his foster dad which could amplify his fears. For now, Mando and the Child will continue their adventures together in The Mandalorian as they travel to the Tython - the birthplace of Jedi in Legends where the latter might choose the path he wants for himself. What lies beyond that for the both of them is unknown, with the possibility that things may not end the best for the duo considering that they're non-factors in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
