Ahsoka Tano is an incredibly strong and gifted Force-user, but just how powerful is she in The Mandalorian compared to Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels? Ahoska has become one of the most popular Star Wars characters in recent years, and her return in The Mandalorian was both highly anticipated and widely celebrated by fans. While Rosario Dawson did a fantastic job playing Ahsoka in live-action, The Mandalorian's version of the character is different from the Ahsoka of The Clone Wars and Rebels in a few key ways. One of those differences concerns Ahsoka’s power level – both in terms of her Force attunement and lightsaber skills.

Though some Star Wars fans were skeptical of her introduction in The Clone Wars movie, Ahsoka quickly developed into one of the franchise’s most interesting and beloved characters. Throughout the original animated series, she grew from a cocky Padawan into a wise and skilled Jedi, only to leave the order after realizing the problems inherent to its dogma. Ahsoka fought in numerous campaigns throughout the war – often against powerful dark side users like Asajj Ventress and Darth Maul – and proved herself to be both a powerful Jedi and a capable leader.

After the end of the war and the rise of Palpatine’s Galactic Empire, Ahsoka found her way into the service of the Rebellion, where once again she fought, led, and even helped train Ezra Bridger in the ways of the Force. And years after the fall of the Empire, by the time of The Mandalorian, Ahsoka still fought on the side of light in the far corners of the galaxy. Here’s how strong Ahsoka is The Mandalorian, compared to The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

How Powerful Ahsoka Tano Is In The Clone Wars & Star Wars Rebels

Star Wars The Clone Wars Rebels Ahsoka Tano

Even at the beginning of Ahsoka’s apprenticeship to Anakin Skywalker, she already displayed impressive skill with both the Force and her lightsabers. Ahsoka utilized the Jar’Kai saber technique through most of her life, wielding a full lightsaber in her dominant hand and a smaller shoto saber in her offhand. Her combat skill and dexterity with a blade were a big part of why she was assigned to a frontline Jedi like Anakin in the first place, and those skills only grew through her time serving in the Clone Wars. Where at first she was only able to hold off foes like Asajj Ventress and General Grievous for a short amount of time, for instance, she later was able to stand her ground. Her saber skills were given a true test during the battle of Mandalore when Ahsoka defeated Darth Maul – the same Sith who killed the legendary Qui-Gon Jinn in single combat.

As for her Force abilities, Ahsoka was also exceptionally strong as a young apprentice. She displayed impressive combat applications during her early time with Anakin – such as basic levitations, throwing projectiles, and toppling objects on opponents. She also had an acute Force awareness, being able to sense things from a young age. Like her saber skills, those Force abilities only grew through the war and her Force displays during the final days of the Republic were on par with those shown by far more experienced Jedi.

By the time Ahsoka meets up with Ezra Bridger and Kanan Jarrus in Star Wars Rebels, her skills have matured to the level of a master. Ahsoka's lightsaber technique is just as impressive, if not more so, as she is easily able to dispatch Imperial Inquisitors single-handedly. Her Force powers appear much stronger than in The Clone Wars. For example, in that same fight against the Inquisitorius, Ahsoka powers down her foe’s lightsaber after simply grabbing onto it. All these developments are enhanced by Ahsoka’s matured patience, awareness, and attunement to the Force. At the end of her Rebels arc, she even goes toe-to-toe with Darth Vader himself, and while she ultimately loses the battle, she puts on an impressive display of strength against her former master.

How Powerful Ahsoka Tano Is In The Mandalorian

Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 5

It seems unlikely that Ahsoka could get even more powerful after the events of Star Wars Rebels. And in fairness, The Mandalorian doesn’t give that many opportunities to see her strength on display. Even with what little screen time she does get, though, she shows an even higher level of Force attunement, confidence, and poise in her fighting. During her campaign against the Magistrate of Corvus, Ahsoka brought down dozens of soldiers with nothing but her wits and her skills, effectively waging a one-woman war against the Magistrate and her regime. She did this not by sheer sword skills and Force power, but by outthinking and outmaneuvering a highly elite group. In these scenes, it’s Ahsoka’s quick thinking, instincts, and overall intelligence that’s shown to have improved by degrees. But make no mistake – her raw power is no less than it was in years past.

Then finally, Ahsoka confronts the Magistrate herself, and engages in a one-on-one duel. Her struggles against the Magistrate in this fight have often been viewed as a sign that her skills have diminished, but that’s not really the case. Because Ahsoka is there primarily for information, she intentionally fights in way as to not harm her opponent. She was also caught understandably off-guard by the Magistrate’s dueling ability, and she was significantly out of practice in terms of one-on-one saber combat. Still, Ahsoka beats her opponent relatively quickly. Are her saber skills visibly improved from Rebels? Not really. But her decision-making and Force attunement are. The latter is also seen in Ahsoka's interactions with Grogu, where she is effortlessly able to commune with the child and sense incredibly specific details about his past and his abilities.

From the beginning of her journey with Anakin to her appearance in The Mandalorian, Ahsoka grows in innumerable ways – all making her a better, stronger, and smarter fighter. She’s a true master in all ways but literal when she meets Din Djarin and Grogu, begging more questions than ever about her whereabouts during the sequel trilogy. Hopefully, that question will finally be answered somewhere down the line. In the meantime, it should be exciting to see what else Ahsoka does in the Mandalorian era when her own show comes to Disney+.
