Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Mandalorian season 2, episode 5, "The Jedi."

Ahsoka Tano was introduced in The Mandalorian season 2 episode titled "The Jedi," and she was revealed to have a unique way of communicating with Baby Yoda. Rosario Dawson portrayed the character in her first-ever Star Wars live-action appearance. Upon meeting the Child, she instantly learned the Force-sensitive foundling's real name was Grogu. Ahsoka and Grogu shared a special connection during their short time together, which was explained by their capabilities with the Force.

"The Jedi" was set on the forest planet of Corvus, the location that Mandalorian Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) traveled to in order to find Ahsoka. Upon meeting Ahsoka, Din finally got some answers into Grogu's past, including the fact that he was raised and trained at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. During the fall of the Republic, Grogu was sent into hiding so he was never fully trained as a Jedi. Even though Din wanted Ahsoka to train the 50-year-old foundling, she refused. Instead, she advised him to take Grogu to the ancient temple on Tython for further guidance.

After Ahsoka introduced herself to Din, she sat alone with Grogu, but the pair didn't directly speak to one another. Instead of talking, they communicated through the Force, which was something that Ahsoka couldn't exactly explain to Din. This was how she found out about Grogu's past, allowing her to pass on the newfound information. While it was established that the Child could understand verbal speech, he has yet to talk in the series. For now, the bulk of communication will rely on telepathy, a known power of Force-users in Star Wars.

Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa at the end of Star Wars Empire Strikes Back

Telepathy is a special ability among some Force-sensitive beings, allowing individuals to mentally communicate or interact with one another. As the case with telekinesis, the powers of telepathy can be used by both light and dark side users of the Force. Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa were able to communicate with each other from across the galaxy through telepathy, and dark siders like Kylo Ren was capable of using the power for mental manipulation. In addition, he possessed the power of extracting information from people's minds.

While telepathy isn't extremely rare among Force-sensitive beings, it's not exactly common. The fact that Grogu has the power reiterates how special he truly is. There are most likely numerous other Force powers in his arsenal that he hasn't displayed just yet. If and when he finds a Jedi to fully train him, it will be interesting to see if he could potentially grow to be as strong as the other members of his species, Yoda and Yaddle. The Mandalorian will surely follow Grogu's journey as more details into his Force powers come into the spotlight.
