Terry Gilliam's long-awaited The Man Who Killed Don Quixote is finally getting a release date and a new trailer arrives to celebrate the occasion. Riddled with decades of setbacks and doomed productions, Gilliam's passion project has been put through the wringer. The film is about an advertising executive, played by Adam Driver, who jumps back and forth in time between 21st century London and 17th century La Mancha, where Jonathan Pryce's Don Quixote mistakes him for Sancho Panza. The film also stars Olga Kurylenko, Stellan Skarsgård and Jordi Mollà.

Though the film has been finished for about a year now, Gilliam's latest continues to have trouble, losing Amazon as a distributor around the time it was set to premiere at last year's Cannes Film Festival. After finally showing during the festival, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote was then threatened by a lawsuit that almost stopped it from showing in France completely. However, it was able to slip by and play across the country, and now audiences will finally get to see Driver and Pryce in Gilliam's long-in-the-works project in the United States as well.

Screen Media and Fathom revealed a brand new official US trailer for Gilliam's long-awaited The Man Who Killed Don Quixote. According to this new trailer, the movie from the Monty Python alum will finally make its debut in “a one-night theatrical event” on April 10, when fans will finally be able to see the completed project on the big screen. Loosely based on Miguel de Cervantes novel, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote will play in over 700 cinemas on April 10, and in “select Canadian locations” as well, but only for that one night. Accompanying the film will also be a host of exclusive bonus features chronicling the making of the film and its infamous journey to the big screen. Check out the new trailer below.

“It took more than two and a half decades to make and moviegoers have just one chance to experience this film in all its glory on the big screen,” said Fathom Events CEO Ray Nutt in a press release. “We are thrilled to provide audiences the opportunity to experience this highly anticipated content in the best way possible, larger-than-life and alongside fellow fans.”

Gilliam's decades-long project will finally see the light of day in a public venue. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on whether the film will play elsewhere or what sort of distribution method the film will receive after that one-night-only theatrical showing. Given that The Man Who Killed Don Quixote has been subjected to one of the most troubled production shoots in movie history, it's likely the long-brewing saga of this film's journey is likely not finished this year.
