Zack Snyder explains how Superman's suit was created in Man of Steel. The 2013 film introduced the latest iteration of the iconic hero, played by Henry Cavill, and was met with a generally positive response from fans. Many were pleased with Cavill's performance and enjoyed Snyder's take on the character. Man of Steel offered a closer look at Superman's origins, from the destruction of Krypton when he was a baby to the moment he first donned his iconic suit. In the film, he discovers the suit when revisiting the crashed scout ship he escaped Krypton in as a baby, which also contained an AI version of his biological father Jor-El (Russell Crowe).

Cavill has since gone on to play Superman in two additional films, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. Since then, however, plans for his Superman seem to be stalled. The DCEU has begun shifting gears since the underwhelming performance of Justice League, and while Cavill has indicated he'd like to play the character again, he doesn't seem to be attached to any DC movie at the present moment, aside from the long-awaited Snyder Cut of Justice League. After lots of fan campaigning, the Snyder Cut will finally be released on HBO Max in 2021.

During a live watch party for Man of Steel, held on his Vero account, Snyder offered new tidbits about the making of his first DCEU film. When it came to Superman's recovered suit, Snyder explained how it was created on the scout ship as opposed to just always being packed away on it. Snyder said this:

The idea that this 20000 year old ship, the ancestors of the house of El would have existed in, or the idea that this suit, was customed by the Jor-El AI that's inside the system so he's able to, the suit's being generated by Jor-E. That was my notion.

Snyder also elaborated on why Superman wore the familiar red and blue suit instead of the black one fans are so eager to see the character don. The hope among many is that Superman will get to wear it in the Snyder Cut, as it was Snyder's original plan. Snyder had a great many things he wanted to include in Justice League, but a majority of it was cut when he left production due to a family tragedy. Because of that, Snyder estimates fans have only seen a quarter of what he set out to make.

One of the biggest questions on fans' minds now is if the release of the Snyder Cut will finally lead to the creation of Man of Steel 2. That's another DC film fans have been clamoring for over the years, and while the Snyder Cut reportedly isn't supposed to lead to any sequels, anything can happen. Cavill makes a good Superman, and it would be a shame to see him leave the character behind so soon. Only time will tell if he gets the chance to make a Man of Steel sequel.
