As the sequel finally begins to make progress, Watchmen's Rorschach actor Jackie Earle Haley says that Zack Snyder should return to make Man of Steel 2. After originally breaking out for his work in the original The Bad News Bears franchise and for his Oscar-nominated turn in 2006's Little Children, Haley found new stardom for his role in Snyder's adaptation of Alan Moore's Watchmen as Walter Kovacs, better known as Rorschach, a brutal antihero who acts as a legal outlaw following a government act preventing any vigilante activities. Haley scored widespread acclaim for his performance as Rorschach, namely for his gruff voice narrating the polarizing comic book adaptation.Snyder would go onto continue his work in the comic book genre with Man of Steel, the Henry Cavill-led reboot of the Superman movie franchise that acted as the launching point for the DC Extended Universe. Though seeing a similarly polarizing reception as Watchmen, the film's box office success led to Snyder returning for both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, the latter of which he infamously left midway through production over creative differences with the studio and the loss of his daughter. Due to his relationship with WB crumbling during both Justice League's production and putting together Zack Snyder's Justice League, the door seems closed for the filmmaker to return to the DCEU, though one actor is still hopeful.Related: Breaking Down All Those DCEU Movie Updates & Reveals: What It Means

On the heels of a new report that Warner Bros. is looking for writers for the project, Jackie Earle Haley took to Facebook and Twitter to share his thoughts on Man of Steel 2. The Watchmen Rorschach actor felt that the DCEU sequel should be made by Zack Snyder again, calling for the studio to bring him back. See Haley's post above:

Zack Snyder watches a take with Henry Caville

Snyder fans have been pushing for the filmmaker's return to the DCEU since his departure in Justice League's production, infamously pressuring WB and DC executives to release his cut of the superhero crossover, and subsequently to "#RestoreTheSnyderVerse," given he had a two-part plan for its story. Zack Snyder's Justice League getting released and debuting to the best reviews for the filmmaker in the DCEU, the fanbase has remained hopeful that its success could lead to Snyder coming back to finish off his story, or helm other projects. With reports of Henry Cavill's Superman returning for a cameo in Black Adam and Ben Affleck returning for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, many have similarly considered this as the studio moving towards giving audiences what they have been crying out for.

With that said, while Watchmen actor Jackie Earle Haley may be with fans in hoping for Snyder to make Man of Steel 2, the chances seem pretty low of his returning to the fold. The filmmaker previously expressed his frustrations at WB's ongoing creative restrictions while putting together Zack Snyder's Justice League, and given his roster is already packed with launching his new Netflix franchise, Rebel Moon, and further expanding his Army of the Dead universe for the streamer, it seems unlikely he has the time to get back into the superhero game for DC. In the meantime, audiences can revisit his seeming DCEU swan song with Zack Snyder's Justice League streaming on HBO Max.
