She first became a breakout star on HBO's smash series, Game of Thrones. Since then, Maisie Williams has continued to blossom as an actor, appearing in other television shows and movies spanning multiple genres. It has allowed her to showcase her versatility and potential in front of the camera.

Like some of her fellow Game of Thrones castmates, she has had some bumps in the road, whether that be commercial or critical (like 2020's The New Mutants). Still, Williams has had flashes of brilliance and though she's still very young, she has been part of some quality series and films.

iBoy (6.0)

iBoy

This was one of the bigger movies to star Maisie Williams. That's mostly because it was released on Netflix, which got plenty of eyes on it. Based on a 2010 novel of the same name, iBoy arrived on the streaming juggernaut in early 2017, when her star power was high.

iBoy is a teenage sci-fi flick about a young teen named Tom Harvey (Bill Milner) who gets shot and has fragments of his smartphone embedded into his head, giving him a unique set of superpowers. Williams appears as Lucy, the love interest of Tom's.

Early Man (6.1)

Goona in Early Man

Nick Park may not have helmed a large number of films and shows but he's notorious for his signature style. It's evident by looking at his work, including Chicken Run, Shaun the Sheep Movie, and Wallace and Gromit. That style came into play again with this 2017 film.

Again utilizing stop motion animation, Early Man is actually something of a sports movie. It focuses on a tribe of cavemen who must defend their land from invaders by winning a soccer game. Williams voices Goona, a football fan and tomboy who befriends the protagonist.

Mary Shelley (6.4)

Isabel Baxter and Mary Shelley

Mary Shelley was a novelist from the 1800s who penned Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, which has been called the first sci-fi novel. In the fall of 2017, this movie was released about her, depicting her romance with a poet who helped inspire her famous work.

Premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival and then getting a wider release in 2018, Mary Shelley ended up grossing $1.9 million. Elle Fanning took on the titular role, while Maisie Williams portrayed Isabel Baxter in a supporting part.

Gold (6.5)

Maisie Williams in Gold

Gold is a notable entry on this list because it's the oldest movie here. Maisie Williams' only previous work in a feature film came a year earlier in Heatstroke, which didn't make the cut. Arriving in 2014, Gold is an Irish comedy that allowed Williams to show her versatility.

The story centers around an estranged father who returns to the lives of his ex-wife and daughter after a decade, only to ruin everything. David Wilmot plays Ray, the dad, while Williams is Abbie, the daughter. Gold was praised for the use of its talented cast.

Two Weeks To Live (6.6)

Maisie Williams in Two Weeks to Live

Obviously, it was in the world of television that Maisie Williams made her name and became a star. She returned to that arena this year with Two Weeks to Live. It's a six-part miniseries that was produced for Sky UK and originally ran through the fall of 2020.

The series sees Williams in the lead role as Kim Noakes, who was raised off the grid by her protective mother. She embarks on a mission to avenge the death of her father, who was murdered. Two Weeks to Live was picked up by HBO and can be streamed on HBO Max now.

The Secret Of Crickley Hall (6.9)

Maisie Williams in The Secret Of Crickley Hall

About a year after first shining in Game of Thrones, Maisie Williams joined another television show. That was when she starred in The Secret of Crickley Hall, a three-episode miniseries from BBC based on a supernatural novel from 2006 of the same name.

It follows two timelines. One, set in 1943, focuses on orphans evacuated during World War II who must stay at Crickley Hall. The other, set in 2006, sees a new family move into the building. Williams plays Loren Caleigh, the teen daughter in the 2006 storyline.

Then Came You (7.0)

Maisie Williams in Then Came You

This film boasts one of the most talented young casts in recent memory. Asa Butterfield, Nina Dobrev, and Peyton List all shine alongside Maisie Williams. Shown at the Woodstock Film Festival in 2018 and released in 2019, Then Came You tells an emotional story.

It sees a hypochondriac (Butterfield) who befriends a girl with terminal cancer (Williams) and together, they knock items off of his bucket list. She helps him face his fears and grow as a person, while he helps her final few months be as memorable and fun as possible.

gen:LOCK (7.4)

Cammie from gen:LOCK

It's kind of a shame that more people didn't watch gen:LOCK. Produced by Rooster Teeth, this animated web-series has a lot going for it. For starters, the dystopian setting is great, while the action is strong as an international coalition fights off a group of invaders.

To top it off, the voice cast is spectacular. Maisie Williams voices Cammie, a hacker and the youngest member of gen:LOCK. There's also Michael B. Jordan, David Tennant, and Dakota Fanning. A second season is set to premiere on the HBO Max streaming service.

Doctor Who (8.6)

Ashildr in Doctor Who

It might come as a surprise to many but Maisie Williams was actually part of Doctor Who. Although the sci-fi series has been running for several decades, Williams of course only showed up in recent years. She appeared in the ninth series, which ran in 2015, alongside the Twelfth Doctor.

Williams portrayed Ashildr, who debuted in the episode, "The Girl Who Died." Her performance was praised and she appeared in four episodes. The character was also a highlight for the storyline where she becomes immortal. Williams never returned after that season.

Game of Thrones (9.3)

arya stark

There really could not be another choice for the top spot. Game of Thrones is what made Maisie Williams a household name. For the entirety of the series, she portrayed Arya Stark. In the beginning, she's the plucky and tough daughter of Ned Stark, only for her life to change when she's taken to King's Landing and he's beheaded.

From there, Williams put on great performances as Arya experienced hardships and grew into a fierce warrior. She ultimately got to have arguably the most important kill of the series when she took out the Night King. Though Game of Thrones had a poorly received final season, it still has a high IMDb rating for how great everything else was.
