After Magneto claimed the Seat of Loss from the Arakko Council in the wake of X-Men Red #3, he has once again proven just how brutal a fighter he can be — and just how effective a leader. Without the same moral qualms as Xavier, and without Storm's reluctance to kill, he can truly be an extraordinary threat among the Arakki.

But, if the Marvel universe is forced to take him seriously, that doesn't mean that fans always need to. After all, the more powerful a character, the easier it is to put together memes that reflect their prowess. That's why X-Men fans have been putting together some great memes that showcase who Magneto is.

Sometimes A Good Dad

While Magneto has many beloved kids, most of whom have made a huge impact on the Marvel universe, he does have one child he isn't particularly as fond of. Quicksilver, an Avenger that has long despised his father's parenting strategies, happens to be somewhat of a disappointment to the Master of Magnetism.

Despite Pietro being the father of Magneto's first grandchild, he just hasn't been able to live up to his extraordinary expectations. When his father is the single most significant mutant rights activist in the world, it can be hard to, but it especially isn't fair when Magneto favors Wanda Maximoff over her twin brother.

Wolverine Was A Bad Idea

One of the things that have never made sense to Marvel fans is Xavier's choice of recruits. While Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm are all brilliant choices, some of the others have been confusing. Even outside of including some of the least powerful mutant heroes like Nightcrawler and Angel, Xavier chose to send Wolverine to take down Magneto.

Given that Wolverine has a metal skeleton, sending him to fight an Omega-level mutant with the power to control magnetism isn't his brightest move. There's a reason Magneto was able to strip the Adamantium from Wolverine's skeleton, which was a major turning point in both of their stories.

He Has A Point

Magneto has always been classified as a mutant trying to do good. Though his methods are often less-than-heroic, his goals are benevolent. He simply wants mutants to be allowed to live their lives in peace, and he'll do whatever it takes to get to that point.

When discussing some of the discrimination mutants face — up to, and including, gigantic robotic sentinels trying to slaughter them all — it's hard not to sympathize with him. That alone is why Magneto was able to grow from a classic Marvel villain to a friend of the X-Men.

A Few Different Versions

There have been quite a few major portrayals of Magneto through the years. From the comic book villain to a member of the Council of Arakko to the original live-action version to the young man trying to survive the Fox X-Men universe. While it's clear that the comic version came first, each was a definitive and unique portrayal.

The changes in the movies, like his helmet blocking telepathy, have made the jump to comics, as it made considerably more sense than the character just choosing to wear strange headwear. Besides, it's just funny to see a classic format featuring Magneto used to represent him.

Aging Up

The main villain of the Fox X-Men movies, Magneto and his counterpart Xavier certainly aged rapidly, thanks to timeline inconsistencies within the films. It is funny, but what this meme points to is how important forming mutant teams can be for Magneto.

While he formed the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants in the comics, rather than the X-Men, he has at times led that team as well, and it has certainly taken its toll on him. Though he is dedicated to mutant causes, his missions have aged him both mentally and physically, and it has left him unbelievably strained.

Too Powerful

As one of the most powerful X-Men and an Omega-level mutant, Magneto has certainly proved himself to be a force to be reckoned with. Even if the Avengers managed to take on intergalactic threats like Thanos, someone as uniquely talented as Magneto would likely be too much for them.

With his control over magnetism, he could take down every member of the Avengers without even breaking a sweat. If he's introduced in the MCU, he'll likely be a major threat that can take on the Avengers for more than just a single phase of the MCU.

Would Have, If He Could Have

Given his power level, Magneto would have been able to demolish Ultron as soon as he came across him, had he been in Age of Ultron. And, even if he isn't a particularly big fan of Pietro, he still doubtlessly loves him and could have stopped his son's untimely death as well.

Unfortunately, given that Fox owned the rights to the X-Men, meaning that Magneto couldn't show up in the final confrontation to help his kids. Still, there's a reason Ultron doesn't try to face off against Magneto. He would have been stomped in the process.

Mutant Rights

While Magneto's power has certainly been proven, his confidence is something else. Well aware that he is one of the most powerful mutants, Magneto has always had a flair for arrogance and enjoys showcasing his power at any possible opportunity. That's, in part, why he wears bright colors and a long flowing cape.

His arrogance also contributed to his sense of mutant superiority, which has always been fairly present whenever he appears. It's, after all, his most basic motivation as a character. As the first villain the X-Men ever faced, that sense of superiority defined him and lasted throughout his existence.

A Little Dramatic

Even outside of his confidence, Magneto is a man who knows how to use drama to his advantage. Ever-willing to pause for a monologue — even at inopportune times — he also creates elaborate schemes and settings that truly emphasize just how powerful he can be.

As a villain who started off signing his name in the sky to inform the world's militaries that he would set off nuclear weapons, he's surely remained consistent through the years. Besides, his most dramatic moments have often been the most touching. The first Trial of Magneto and the Uncanny X-Men #150 revelations about his backstory were incredibly dramatic, but also informative about who the character was and who he could be.

Sometimes A Villain

Magneto tends to swing from villainy to heroism and back to villainy at a moment's notice. While he has at times been the Headmaster of Xavier's school and a respected Councilmember to Krakoa, he has also been the bloodthirsty leader of Genosha and the man who led the aptly-named Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.

While his loyalties tend to change based on what he believes is best for mutants at any given moment, it certainly makes the character feel somewhat inconsistent. The only consistency with Magneto's character is that he will always fight for mutant-kind, no matter the associated cost.
