Disney +’s new release, Magic Camp, is a heartwarming story featuring more than a few familiar faces; here’s where one may recognize the actors from. Directed by Mark Waters of Mean Girls fame, Magic Camp was released on Disney + on August 14th, 2020. It follows the lives of magicians young and old as they spend the summer at The Magic Institute learning to hone their craft.
Magic Camp primarily follows Andy Tuckerman, played by Adam Devine, a cab driver in Las Vegas who was once a magic child prodigy. When he is approached by his former mentor Roy Preston (Jeffrey Tambor) to return to The Magic Institute as a counselor, he accepts, motivated mostly by his desire to beat his ex’s cabin of campers at the end-of-summer Top Hat competition.
Magic Camp sees Tuckerman mentor a cabin full of youngsters, such as Judd, the son of a famous magician, and Theo, a self-effacing but talented boy who learned card tricks from his late father. Over the course of the summer, the kids must work hard to discover their potential. The following is a guide to the cast and characters of Magic Camp.
Magic Camp's Main Cast
Adam Devine as Andy Tuckerman: A former camper at The Magic Institute, Andy has sworn off magic. When his former mentor invites him back to camp as a counselor, he returns with something to prove as the mentor of the Hearts cabin. Devine is known for appearing in Pitch Perfect, Workaholics, and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.
Jeffrey Tambor as Roy Preston: As the leader of The Magic Institute, Roy oversees the camp and has mentored many magicians, both famous and unknown. Tambor is best known for his roles in Transparent and Arrested Development.
Gillian Jacobs as Kris Darkwood: Famous for headlining a magic show on the Las Vegas strip, Kris has hit it big. Also a former camper and Andy’s ex, she is another counselor at The Magic Institute and mentor to the Diamonds cabin. Jacobs is best known for her roles in Community and Netflix series Love.
Nathaniel McIntyre as Theo: A budding magician and member of the Hearts cabin. Dealing with his father’s loss, he is a little bit shy, but magic camp offers him a chance to grow. McIntyre can also be seen in TV series David Makes Man and Netflix film Barry.

Cole Sand as Nathan: A member of the Hearts and close friend to Theo, Nathan lays claim to a wide array of allergies and a mathematical mind. Sand is best known for roles in Disney’s Austin and Ally, Showtime’s Masters of Sex, and TV series Parenthood.
Isabella Crovetti as Ruth: Another member of the Hearts cabin, Ruth is obsessed with bunnies and all things cute. Crovetti can be seen in Joy, ABC’s The Neighbors, and USA’s Colony.
Josie Totah as Judd: The child of a famous magician, Judd feels immense pressure to follow in his father’s footsteps. As a fellow member of the Hearts cabin, he may learn his passion lies elsewhere. Totah can be seen in Disney’s Jessie, TV series Champion, and Other People.
Izabella Alvarez as Vera: Decidedly goth-rocker-chic, Vera may not have the most sunny attitude, but she shares her passion for magic with her cabin mates, the Hearts. Alvarez is best known for her roles in HBO’s Westworld and Nickelodeon cartoon The Casagrandes.
Hayden Crawford as Vic: A member of the Diamond cabin and resident camp bully, Vic is the winner of last year’s Golden Wand, a prize given to the camp’s most promising young magician. Crawford has also appeared in Nickelodeon’s Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, & Dawn and ABC's Schooled.
Bianca Grava as Janelle: A member of the Diamond cabin with a talent for disappearing, Janelle comes from a family with two busy and somewhat absent parents. Grava can also be seen in Gamer’s Guide to Pretty Much Everything and Game Shakers.
