Jamie Otis-Hehner not only met her husband through Lifetime’s Married at First Sight, but she has also created a career around the show. She hosts Married at First Sight: Unfiltered, where she interviews current MAFS contestants to get their insights into each episode. Apparently, Jamie has created some friendships through the show as well, no doubt bonding over their shared experience of being matched by relationship experts. When she celebrated her 35th birthday, Jamie posted pictures with many familiar faces from the franchise.
Jamie and Doug Hehner were paired on season one of Married at First Sight and are the only couple that is still married out of the three couples matched on the initial season. While Jamie’s marriage has lasted, she has been very open about the work they put into their marriage and their struggles. Fans find Jamie’s brave honesty about her difficulties inspiring, as it would be easy for her to pretend her life in the spotlight is perfect.
Jamie got to party in style for her 35th birthday, with husband Doug taking care of the kids so she could have a weekend getaway. She flew to Atlanta, Georgia, where season 12 of MAFS was filmed. Four of the five wives from season 12 were there, including now-single Paige Banks and Haley Harris. Clara Oubre was the only woman from season 12 to not make it to the birthday party weekend. The weekend celebration included some fun on the water with boats and swimming. There was also dancing and karaoke. It was a much-needed break for Jamie, who not only works as a show host, but also as a podcaster, author, jewelry designer, and mother-of-two. After the birth of her second child, she opened up about the physical changes she went through. Being a mom is a big part of her life, and she admitted on Instagram that she was having to fight back the "#momguilt" of enjoying herself away from the kids.
Viewers love that Jamie’s support of the other women on Married at First Sight isn’t just an act for the camera. She really has seemed to make friends with many of the cast members from other seasons of the show. Whether the contestants find their happily ever after on the show or have to make it themselves later, it’s nice to have friends who understand what you’ve been through and are there to celebrate the good times.
