In a sad but not totally unsurprisingly twist of fate, Married at First Sight's match Gil Cuero and Myrla Feria have separated. Myrla, 34, and Gil, 35, decided to stay together during the season finale last week despite Myrla's concerns about the relationship — one of only two couples this season to say "yes" on Decision Day. Though the experts thought the couple's strong personalities might make them powerful together, there were signs that they were ill-matched from the start.

Myrla was introduced on the show as a South Texas gal with humble roots who turned struggles such as domestic violence and food insecurity into a drive to succeed and thrive financially. Gil, on the other hand, was touted as a Columbian hopeless romantic looking to achieve the American Dream and give his wife stability, passion, and security. But the relationship had red flags early on. On their wedding day, Myrla confessed that though Gil was handsome, she isn't attracted to bald men. The couple also clashed over Myrla's desire to earn big and spend lavishly, while Gil was content with a simpler life. Though Gil and Myrla opened up about their pasts, discovering similarities like their mothers only speaking Spanish, and seemed to have great respect for one another, they also seemed to lack the passion and infatuation required for true romance.

On the reunion show Wednesday night, E! reported, the couple announced their split. "Fourteen days after Decision Day, Myrla decided she didn't want to be with me anymore," Gil explained on the show. Myrla elaborated, saying that many things broke them up, including financial concerns, personality differences, and her lack of attraction to Gil. "For me, the initial attraction and chemistry was not there from the beginning and I realized I was not happy. I think there was attraction that came, but for me, there has to be more. When you don't have that chemistry, that fire, you can't force someone to have that. He's an amazing person. He's handsome, but we are just not for each other."

Unfortunately for Gill, he revealed in the episode that he had moved in with Myrla and sold everything he owned except for a blender, clothes and his dog, but moved out after the break-up. "The biggest issue I have with all of this was that she felt like this from the very beginning," he said. "...I completely understand if she's not attracted to me, she doesn't think I'm the man for her. I don't want to force anybody to be with me if they don't want to be with me. But if you feel like that, why not speak to me about it?" Sadly, Gil also said he is still in love with Myrla and is going to therapy to help him try to move on. But Myrla was firm in her decision. "I did what I felt was best for him. I did not think it was healthy for you to be around me. I told you that. He didn't look happy…He deserves all the happiness in the world and I want him to be happy."

This reunion show reveal has to be one of the most brutal in all of Married At First Sight history. It sounds like Gil took a chance on love and made himself vulnerable both emotionally and financially by moving in with her, but quickly found out it was a bad gamble. While it's hard to fault Myrla for not being attracted to Gil and it sounds like she did the right thing by ending the relationship, it surly would have been better for Gil if she'd figured it out sooner.
