According to a leak from the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee, new versions of Mafia II and Mafia III are coming to current-gen consoles and PC. While often compared to the Grand Theft Auto series, 2K's Mafia franchise has always marched to the beat of its own drum. Instead of setting players loose in an open world city and letting them wreak havoc at will, Mafia used its urban setting to facilitate a linear storyline. The results have been mixed, but Mafia has attracted a following due to its deep characters, immersive atmosphere, and provocative storytelling.

If a leak from the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee, reported on Twitter, is to be believed, "Definitive Editions" of Mafia II and Mafia III are coming soon to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Interestingly, the listing makes no mention of a Switch version. If true, this would mark Mafia II's debut on current-gen consoles. The 2010 title originally released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, and is considered by many to be the best entry in the series.

Strangely, Mafia III is already available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, and can be purchased with in a special bundle with all of its substantial DLC intact. One has to wonder if there will be any changes to the game to make this particular version "definitive" in any meaningful way above the existing release. Hopefully, fans of the series won't have to wait too long to discover if this leak is true or not.
