Zosia Mamet has joined Sony's Madame Web. The expansion of the Sony Spider-Man Universe (SSU) has proved largely divisive for many comic book heroes and villains who are finally getting their cinematic dues. The Madame Web movie, which Jessica Jones helmer S.J. Clarkson is directing off a screenplay from Morbius duo Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, is the hottest entry on the SSU slate. The film is led by Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson, who stars alongside a top-tier cast that includes Emma Roberts, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O'Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, and Adam Scott. Filming on Madame Web is already underway, but that hasn't stopped the ensemble from growing even larger.

A new report by Deadline suggests that Zosia Mamet, who garnered praise for her turn as Annie Mouradian in the Kaley Cuoco HBO Max series The Flight Attendant, has committed to starring in Madame Web. As with the rest of the film's cast, details on Mamet's role are currently under wraps.

Since Madame Web is filming under tight secrecy, it's hard to predict what role Mamet could play in the movie. Previous Madame Web set photos have teased looks at Johnson, Roberts, and Scott's characters, and while there are convincing theories about their roles, nothing can be confirmed until Sony issues a formal statement. Nevertheless, Mamet's casting is an exciting update. The actress has already demonstrated her performative flair with her turns in award-winning shows like Mad Men and Girls, and her addition to the Madame Web cast undoubtedly increases the anticipation for the much-awaited movie.
