New set photos from Madame Web offer the first look at Adam Scott's mysterious character. After the success of the various Spider-Man movies, Sony is seeking to expand its own shared Marvel universe with new feature films based on characters from the comics. Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Morbius marked Sony's first forays into the larger live-action Spider-Verse, and the studio has since doubled down on its commitment to developing a film franchise by announcing several other spinoff movies, including Madame WebKraven the Hunter, and El Muerto.

Madame Web is written by Morbius writers Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, with Jessica Jones helmer S. J. Clarkson directing. After nearly a year of casting, it was announced that Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson would lead the film, although the full details of her role weren't revealed. In subsequent months, Madame Web added Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O'Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps, and Scott to the cast, with filming commencing on July 11, 2022. Until recently, the plot and character details were mostly under wraps, but with production underway, fans have been able to get some idea of the movie.

The Twitter account Marvel News has shared some new set photos from Madame Web. The images show Scott seemingly filming scenes for his still undisclosed character. The pictures come after an earlier video apparently revealed that Johnson could be playing Julia Carpenter in Madame Web. Take a look at the images below.

Interestingly, Scott's outfit is reminiscent of the get-up of the various incarnations of Peter Parker in Sony's Spider-Man franchises. Previous Madame Web set photos teased a 2000s setting for the movie,  leading many to believe that the film could take place in the same universe as Sam Raimi's original Spider-Man trilogy, with Tobey Maguire presumably appearing as the beloved web-slinger. But Maguire's appearance in Madame Web might entail legal repercussions with Disney/ Marvel or creative challenges, so Sony may be utilizing the concept of the Multiverse to introduce a new Spider-Man for its spinoff movies moving forward. Since Madame Web is essentially a clairvoyant who can see into the Multiverse's backbone, the Web of Life and Destiny, it gives Sony free rein to choose from any version of Parker, with the awareness that other Peters still exist in parallel universes.

The new pictures for Scott's characters indicate that the studio could be making use of this opportunity. While there is no way to confirm that Scott is playing a Peter Parker, it remains a possibility considering it would be difficult to track Madame Web's origin story without a Spidey. Right now, the film is in the initial stretch of production, but fans can expect to learn a bit about Adam Scott's character in Madame Web if the supply of set photos and videos continues.
