Megan Calvet joined Mad Men in series four and quickly ends up in a relationship and marriage with the lead character, Don Draper. While the relationship starts out happy enough, things quickly turn sour as it is clear that they're not exactly well matched.

While Megan and Don do have some happy moments together, there is also plenty of anger, resentment, and sadness as well. However, Megan is a fantastic character who really does add a lot of glitz and glamor to the show from the moment she joins.

She doesn't quite get the happy ending that many thought she might due to her divorce with Don. However, in this list, we will take a look at 10 characters from Mad Men that she would have been better suited with, instead of Don.

Ken Cosgrove

If you're looking for someone who would actually look after Megan and would give her a happy life, then Ken Cosgrove would have been the ideal choice. He is one of few actual decent men in the show who remains loyal to his wife and family.

However, making his romantic partner be someone from the office would have helped make Ken a more intriguing character. While Ken is around, he is very much just in a supporting role, but a relationship with Megan could have certainly given him more of a storyline.

Ted Chaough

Another character in Mad Men who could have arguably had a bigger role would have been Ted Chaough. There are moments where he has an important role and then others when he fades away. His office fling with Peggy Olson ends up resulting in very little, which is why it would have made more sense to do it with Megan.

Having the two of them have a romantic relationship together and then head over to California, which they both do anyway, could have been interesting. While they are never shown together on camera, there's no reason that they couldn't have had fun chemistry.

Peggy Olson

Mad Men is very honest about the time that it takes place in and homosexual relationships are something kept fairly private. However, towards the end of the series that shift starts to take place, and using two of the show's biggest characters to highlight that could have been interesting.

Megan has a threesome with Don and another woman within the show, proving she is, at least, attracted to women. Peggy is also noticed by women in the series, so this could have been an interesting twist for the show, especially considering Peggy doesn't get a major love interest until the very end.

Roger Sterling

Roger in Mad Men

This potential relationship really would have created a lot of changes for the show, as Roger Sterling actually ends up in a relationship with Megan's mother. However, despite the age difference one thing that is well-known throughout the show is that Roger has a thing for younger women.

He is very similar to Don in the sense that he's not particularly loyal, but when he wants to try he can treat a woman very well. Had Megan ended up working on Roger's desk instead of Don's, it is very easy to see how they could have been together, even if the outcome would likely have been the same as her marriage to Don.

Dr. Faye Miller

Earlier on we mentioned a potential relationship for Megan Draper with Peggy Olson, but a different partner that might have been more exciting was Faye Miller. She was such a great character that it was a shame when she was written off, and fans would certainly have enjoyed her being a bigger part of the show.

She works with Megan closely when Don's future wife is first introduced to the show, and Faye is actually his girlfriend at the time. Obviously, those storylines would have to be changed, but it would have been a lot of fun to pair these two together, perhaps using Faye to help Megan climb up the world of advertising.

Lane Pryce

If Megan ended up on Lane's office, perhaps a budding relationship could have been developed between them. Lane disconnects from his wife and struggles for the longest part, which does lead him to find his own girlfriend in a quick storyline that is thrown away.

However, had they put Lane with Megan then it could have been more interesting. Mad Men could have even squeezed a relationship with Lane and Don into things if they had kept his unfortunate suicide which would have added a lot more emotional value to Megan's character.

Michael Ginsberg

Michael Ginsberg is mainly used in a comedic role throughout Mad Men, and he isn't really given any big romance storylines which is a shame. Seeing him in that setting could have been a lot of fun and really opened things up with his emotional childhood which we also learn about.

He is someone who is incredibly nice to everyone he works with, which is why everyone in the office seems to love spending time with him. It would have been a slightly odd couple, but there's nothing wrong with that if it's done right.

Stan Rizzo

Stan Rizzo

Much like Michael Ginsberg, Stan Rizzo is someone that Megan works closely with during her time in advertising. He is well-known for being a bit of a ladies man and he certainly has the confidence to charm anybody if he puts his mind to it.

Had Megan not gotten into a relationship with Don, it is quite easy to see how they would have connected together as a couple. Both of them are generally very positive people with great outlooks on life, so having them as a couple would have been a fun dynamic.

Harry Crane

Harry with his glasses and a scarf in Mad Men

On the show, Harry Crane makes his feelings about Megan very clear. He is incredibly attracted to her and he does eventually make a pass at her in a sly manner when she eventually splits from Don. Of course, Megan isn't physically attracted to Harry in any way, but the fact they are in the same business does make them ideal partners.

While Harry technically works in advertising, his role is in the media department. He is constantly working with actors and actresses and he would no doubt have been able to help make Megan a bigger star, which is ultimately all she really wants.

Pete Campbell

This might seem like quite a random pairing, but a relationship between Megan and Pete Campbell could have been a very interesting avenue for the show to take. Once Pete and Trudy split up, having him begin a relationship with Megan would certainly have been different.

The main reason that this relationship could have worked is the fact that Pete does end up moving to California for a brief while. When he works in California it seems to hit the refresh button on his life, and his happy-self could have worked well while Megan continued her acting career.
