Mad Max: Fury Road actress Zoë Kravitz shares her opinion on Imperator Furiosa being recast for the franchise's upcoming prequel. Mad Max: Fury Road was released in 2015 and was well-received by fans and critics, even winning six Oscars at the 2016 Academy Awards. Original trilogy director George Miller returned once again to direct the film with Tom Hardy starring as the titular character, Charlize Theron as Furiosa, and Nicholas Hoult as Nux. Kravitz played a side character in the film named Toast the Knowing.

With the success of the film, Miller was quick to announce that he wanted to make more Mad Max sequels. Mad Max 5 has been in development for the past few years, but just a few months ago it was confirmed that Mad Max 5 was a Furiosa prequel. Despite Theron previously showing interest in a Furiosa spin-off, it was also revealed this year that the actress would not be returning to the role and would be recast with a younger star. This was worrisome to fans who enjoyed Theron's performance in Mad Max: Fury Road, and now Theron's co-star has given her opinion on the situation.

When being interviewed on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Kravitz briefly spoke about the Furiosa spin-off and what she thought about Miller recasting the character. Kravitz mainly had a positive outlook on recasting Theron's character, saying, "If I recall correctly, he always spoke about wanting to do a Furiosa prequel. I didn’t know he was going to recast her. Look man, if I learned anything from being in Fury Road, its shut up and trust George Miller. I’m just gonna shut my mouth and say go to work maestro because I don’t know what else I can say to that man."

Even though it's been confirmed that a Furiosa prequel is on the way, virtually nothing is known about the Mad Max spin-off. Both Jodie Comer and Anya Taylor-Joy have been rumored to be playing the young Furiosa, but there haven't been any official casting announcements just yet. Even though Theron won't be in the film, its possible Hardy could make an appearance, depending on when the film takes place. Hardy is contracted for three Mad Max sequels, so while the Furiosa prequel could be one of these films, he would also return for more sequels should Warner Bros. chose to expand the series.

Miller has proven himself as a director through his four Mad Max movies. While fans may be upset they won't get to see Theron back up on the big screen as Furiosa, the series is still in good hands as long as Miller stays attached as a director. Many credit Mad Max: Fury Road as the best film in the franchise, so most moviegoers will be eager to see the next addition to the series regardless of who plays Furiosa.
