The latest MacBook Pro is in high demand, and new orders from Apple are showing shipping delays stretching from days to weeks. Apple products have grown increasingly popular over the last few years, and the MacBook and other new Mac computers have rallied since 2020 when Apple shook up the computer industry with some big news.

Apple Silicon was introduced at the 2020 Worldwide Developers Conference. It was a dramatic change to Mac computers since it meant an end to Apple's dependence on Intel for CPUs. It wasn't known at that time whether Apple Silicon would also be challenging graphics chip makers as well, but that became clear in 2021 when Apple released the M1 Pro and M1 Max processors for the latest MacBook Pro. Climbing to near the top of both laptop CPU and GPU benchmarks makes Apple's M1 Max an incredible chip, and the MacBook has innovations beyond just the processor.

A recent report from MacRumors notes that new orders for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops are showing delivery delays as far as six weeks into the future. Besides the strong demand for these very powerful and exciting new laptops, the pandemic has created supply chain delays. Despite Apple's impressive resources and excellent logistics, when supply and demand are drawing supplies tight from both sides, it's simply too much to handle without facing some stock issues. In-store pickup is still available at some retailers, so it hasn't reached extreme constraints yet, but the convenience of online ordering is limited.

What's So Great About A MacBook Pro?

For anyone wondering why the MacBook Pro is getting so much attention, it's easy to explain. These are incredible laptops showing improvements in multiple components. While they are incredibly fast and have powerful graphics capabilities, these aren't gaming machines. That has more to do with software than hardware. As high-performance laptops, these are perfect for app development, and with Apple Silicon, users can create iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac apps simultaneously.

Beyond the blazing processor speed, the display specifications place the MacBook Pro in the upper echelons of Apple displays, earning XDR branding. Backed by 10,000 mini-LEDs, the screen is super-bright yet enjoys deep blacks as well. The display is refreshed up to 120 times per second but slows when not needed to extend battery life. The MacBook Pro screen is very enticing for creative professionals, and everyone wants a long battery life, making this a very popular choice.
