Warning: This post contains spoilers for Lupin Part 2.

Netflix's most wanted gentleman thief returned in Lupin Part 2 and the good news for fans of Omar Sy's cunning master of disguise is that his story is not over. With the show pulling in huge numbers in its first chapter and continuing to find success on its return, it's no surprise that there is a healthy appetite to see the literary-influenced rogue twisting more tales.

The first chapter of Lupin was very much a scene-setter, with Sy's Assane Diop showing off not only his impressive wardrobe of disguises but also his genius-level intellect for planning capers. The impact was almost immediate as the Jurassic World star's charismatic performance and Lupin's smart, socially conscious storylines (complete with a thoroughly unlikeable villain) pushed it to the accolade of being Netflix's most-watched show in the first quarter of 2021. Part two escalated the action, the intensity of the story, and the threat to Assane, to great effect.

Now that Lupin Part 2 has been released on Netflix to great acclaim and delivered on the promise of a grand encore for Assane Diop, there's even more clamor for more from the gentleman thief. Here's everything we know about Lupin Part 3 and when you can expect to see it.

Lupin Part 3 Renewal

Assane eyes diamond in Lupin

Ahead of the release of the second part of Lupin, Netflix announced - in a roundabout way - that there'd be another part to follow. The reveal actually came courtesy of a French journalist, thanks to Netflix's cunning marketing ploy to quietly launch www.assane-diop.com. On the homepage, a message read "Assane is always one step ahead. Lupin will return for a part 3." That led to the journalist asking Twitter if the message was legitimate and Omar Sy himself responding:

Assane might not have his big box of Lupin tricks in his apartment anymore, but he has the kind of skills to flourish in the underbelly of Paris society with the police on his tail. While he revealed the criminal empire and influence of Hubert Pellegrini and police corruption, Assane is now charged as "the most wanted man in Paris", changing the dynamic of what Lupin can be in its third chapter. He promised to be watching his family, which suggests some ominous threat to them may not yet be off the table and Assane must now work both to clear his own name and protect his family.

Lupin Part 3 would be impossible without Omar Sy's return and his confirmation on Twitter seems to seal that return. While the story separated Sy's lead from his family, it seems like that his son Raoul, played by Etan Simon will return alongside his mother Claire (Ludivine Sagnier). He may have been locked away, but it would be foolish to discount villain Hubert Pellegrini (Hervé Pierre) from still trying to pull strings from in prison, and his daughter Juliette (Clotilde Hesme) should still be part of Assane's life given their bond. So too should Antoine Gouy's Benjamin Ferel who surely can't hide from the long arm of the law, lead by the conflicted Youssef Guedira (Soufiane Guerrab).

While Lupin Part 2 came quickly on the back of the first mini-series, the second lot of five episodes had already been completed by the time it originally launched in January 2021. In other words, Part 3 will take longer to get to Netflix list of new releases, but a reasonable suggestion of early 2022 makes sense. We will update this article as news becomes available.
