Luke Cage star Mike Colter has confirmed that his character did not survive the devastating snap by Thanos in last year's Avengers: Infinity War movie. As the Netflix shows take place before this event, it's a shocking development for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and finally gives fans some indication of how the Netflix Marvel universe would have been affected had the shows ever went beyond Avengers: Infinity War in the timeline.

Late last year, Netflix made the shocking decision to cancel Luke CageIron Fist and Daredevil soon after their most recent seasons had aired on the streaming giant. While the shows had apparently been losing viewers at the time of the announcement, other reports indicated that Daredevil was one of Netflix's most popular shows in the weeks before its cancellation. Regardless, with the Netflix Marvel universe in doubt, many fans have wondered how the shows would have eventually handled the Thanos snap in Avengers: Infinity War. If Colter's recent revelations are anything to go by, at least one Netflix hero would have been dusted in the incident.

While speaking with Comic Book, Colter revealed that his character would definitely not be appearing in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War sequel Avengers: Endgame. A big reason for this is that Luke Cage apparently did not survive Thanos' snap, which wiped out half of all life in the universe. Colter elaborated on this, saying:

"Am I in Avengers: Endgame? Well, you know what? Based off what happened, I'm already dead, the snap has already happened with Luke Cage. We're dead, we're already gone! I hate to break it down, break people's... but no, no, we're not."

Thanos Snaps his fingers in Avengers Infinity War

It definitely seems like Colter is talking about Thanos' snap here, though there's also another possibility that he was talking about the show itself being dead. However fans want to interpret it, it does not seem like Luke Cage will be returning on the big screen anytime soon. This could also be due to the contracts between Disney and Netflix, which would stop any kind of reboot or revival from happening before 2020, though, again, this is not entirely clear.

Either way, with Colter's comments above, it seems unlikely that any of the Netflix Marvel characters will be appearing in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame movie, though Marvel has been known to throw surprises in before. Until then, fans can at least look forward to the upcoming seasons of The Punisher and Jessica Jones, which are both due to release this year (with The Punisher dropping later this month). Whether those two shows follow the fate of the other Netflix Marvel shows like Luke Cage into cancellation remains to be seen.
