Luigi's Mansion 3 was given a new trailer as part of the Nintendo Direct for E3 2019. The trailer showcased some of the gameplay features that are coming to the Luigi's Mansion sequel, as well as confirming that the game will release at some point in 2019.

One of the rare series that puts Luigi into center stage rather than Mario, the Luigi's Mansion games have provided something very different from Nintendo. In the games, Luigi sneaks around some cartoonishly creepy locations doing some good old-fashioned ghost hunting, and along the way the series has become a fan favorite. As such, there's been a lot of interest in Luigi's Mansion 3.

The trailer shows that Luigi has been invited to a hotel with Mario, Peach, and the gang, before things take a spooky turn. From there on in it goes on to reveal some of the ways in which Luigi can get back into his ghost-busting ways, via a new gameplay trailer that can be seen below.

For starters, the trailer shows Luigi using the Poltergeist G00 weapon to take care of the ghosts in the hotel. There are some new features, however. The first of these shown off is the Slam function, which allows Luigi to provide a bit of physicality to the affair, before also unveiling the equally-handy Suction Shot.

As well as this, there's also Gooigi, a Goo version of Luigi that has the power to slip through fences and is immune to dangerous obstacles - although watch out for water. Gooigi can be controlled by a second player, and that's not the only multiplayer news either. The trailer also showed off the game's ScareScraper mode, where up to eight players in either local or online multiplayer in a time trial to either defeat all the ghosts, find lost Toads, or defeat the tower.

Finally, a rough release estimate was given, with Luigi's Mansion 3 set to be released before the end of 2019. There's not a finite release date apart from that, but at the very least it adds an end point to the wait for the game. More details about Luigi's Mansion 3 will then be shown via Nintendo Treehouse, so keep an eye out for some gameplay.
