A new One Piece statue is pitting Luffy against Kaido once more. Nearly twenty chapters have passed since Luffy concluded his big battle with Kaido. As one of the biggest fights the series has had thus far, it makes sense that it would be artistically captured for fans to enjoy again and again. One Piece - created by Eiichiro Oda - began serializing in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1997. It has since surpassed one hundred volumes and currently spans 1066 chapters. For twenty-five years, the series has welcomed manga fans to join the pirate adventures of Monkey D. Luffy. The statue depicts Luffy and Kaido's epic battle - in two different versions. Kaido is in dragon form in both versions, while Luffy's appearance changes. In one, the Straw-Hat Pirate leader is fully engaged in his Gear Fifth appearance with white hair and clothing. The alternate version depicts the fierce fighter in his unaltered red coat with a black cloak streaming behind him. Luffy's Nika form is incredibly impressive and he took a long-time to unlock it, making this epic statue a very fitting - and even a highly anticipated - depiction of One Piece's hero.

The Wano Country Arc Lives on in New Sculpture

This highly detailed statue captures the intensity of Kaido and Luffy's bout, providing visual manifestations of the immense power they both wield. Kaido is perched atop the Skull Dome which is home to his castle in Onigashima. The dragon-formed Emperor holds his club ready to attack while surrounded by black wisps of resin. Gear Fifth Luffy is shown moving up his arm as white smoke and lightning bolts surround him. One bolt is held in his hand, ready to strike his foe. Kaido formerly had a place as one of the Four Emperors of the Sea, making this a paradigm-shifting battle within the series.

Luffy has gradually been working his way up the ranks of pirate hierarchies within his world and has spent lots of time building up the abilities granted to him by his consumption of the Devil Fruit. Already he has moved up to Gear Fifth, which gives him the abilities of a god, Nika. Along with this Gear came a major appearance shift as well as much higher untapped potential. Luffy has always found ways to improve, so it seems likely that he will find a way to improve upon this form. However, with One Piece entering its final saga, this could be his final Gear. Gear Fourth debuted in Chapter 784 and had multiple forms, giving Luffy just shy of three hundred chapters to develop his latest iteration. Should this be his last possible gear, the Joy Boy will have provided One Piece fans with a stunning final appearance and this statue has done an amazing job of capturing it.
