While Lucifer might be the Devil, in the version presented in this Fox (then Netflix) series, he isn't exactly all evil. In fact, the Devil has evolved so much that, in a plot point everyone saw coming, Lucifer fell in love with Chloe, a human. And through his time being friends and toeing the line of romantic love and friendship, Lucifer did some incredible things for Chloe that would have anyone swooning.

True, Lucifer could be egotistical, self-involved, narcissistic, and selfish at times. But in the end, he always showed that he cared, often with small gestures that did not go unnoticed. That said, he made some pretty grandiose ones, too.

Went Back To Hell

Chloe looked death in the eyes several times through the series' run, but in one episode where she was poisoned, it seemed there was no way to save her. With an antidote unavailable, time was running out.

Together with Linda, Amenadiel, and Maze, Lucifer hatched an elaborate plan to get himself killed, go back to Hell, get the recipe for the antidote from the creator who had just arrived there, be revived, recite the ingredients, and save Chloe's life. It sounds wild but he did it, knowing that he would be going back to the one place he despised and risk never being able to get back to Earth. Lucifer was rewarded with one of the best kisses from the show afterward.

Gave Her A Prom

During one investigation, Chloe mentioned in passing how she never got the regular prom experience since she was acting already by that time so missed out on all of the typical high school experiences.

It seemed like no one really made anything of the information, except when Lucifer surprised her with a corsage, cheesy and sappy '90s music, and a dance at LUX, complete with disco ball lighting to simulate the look of a high school prom.

Saved Her Life By Negotiating With God

On more than one occasion, Lucifer saved Chloe's life. But in the one instance when he was shot and harmed and could not get up to save Chloe and Trixie, Lucifer begged God to bring him back to save her, promising he would be the son God always wanted.

It was a major move given that Lucifer had dedicated his entire life to rebelling against what God wanted him to be. So, for him to make such an agreement proved just how much he cared about her.

He Befriended Trixie

The scenes with Lucifer playing Monopoly with Chloe and Trixie were adorable and sweet given that Lucifer admits he does not like children, referring to them as "tiny miscreants." These quiet night-at-home games marked one of many times Lucifer and Chloe were relationship goals.

What's more, Lucifer is always living on the wild side, drinking, partying, and living it up. Seeing him in a typical quiet home setting was completely opposite of the Lucifer fans had come to know (and love) up until then. He spent a lot of other times with Trixie, babysitting and telling her stories, and it was clearly all for Chloe.

Refused To Say 'I Love You' Until He Knew He Meant It

Lucifer rescues Chloe and they hug.

One of the reasons Lucifer and Chloe are the best couple is that they never lie to one another. Lucifer never lies, period, and refused to do so, even when it meant he could lose Chloe. But still, while he knew he had trouble opening up to people because of his relationship with his father, he still refused to tell Chloe he loved her when he didn't know if he truly meant it.

Lucifer wanted to make sure that he first understood what love was and had the capacity to feel it before declaring his love to Chloe, which meant a lot to her and made it mean so much more when he finally did say those three words.

Gave Her The Necklace

The most meaningful gifts are the most thoughtful ones, and the fact that Lucifer, who prides himself on being materially wealthy, recognized that when it came to Chloe was very sweet. When it was her birthday, he had a part of the bullet she shot him with made into a necklace as a gift.

It was not only a memory of one of their first real moments of connection (albeit a scary one), but also in recognition of how far they had come as friends, partners, and eventually, romantic partners.

Tried To Be God

In one of the most emotional quotes from Lucifer, he revealed that the only reason he was trying to be God, or at least the primary reason, was so that he could "finally be worthy of her," referring to Chloe.

He pled his case to his siblings, fought his twin brother, and did everything in his power to become the leader of the place that banished him. Heaven went against everything for which he stood yet Lucifer thought if he took over, he would be good enough.

Listened To Small Details About Her

In the episode when they first kiss, Chloe comes to the realization of how much Lucifer cares when he recites seemingly small and meaningless details about her that she probably mentioned in passing or he simply noticed over time. From the way she liked her coffee to her middle name, it was eye-opening for Chloe when she saw that he was paying so much more attention than she realized and that most other guys would.

What made it even sweeter was that Lucifer didn't even realize this was a big deal – he was just so enamored with Chloe that he paid attention without even recognizing what he was doing, or that it would mean so much to her.

Went Back To Heaven

Lucifer gives Chloe his ring and professes his love.

In one of the best Deckerstar moments from season 5 of Lucifer, he made the ultimate sacrifice when he traveled back to heaven to find Chloe and bring her back to Earth. This was even though Lucifer was certain that he would burn and turn to dust the second he arrived there since he had been banished so many millennia ago.

This incredible act of love not only proved to Chloe that he loved her but proved to him that he loved her as well. Lucifer was willing to sacrifice his life and everything he believed in if it meant she could live for one more day.

Cooked For Her

A close-up of Lucifer making egg-in-the-hole grilled cheese for Chloe.

On numerous occasions, Lucifer cooked for Chloe. But the most romantic was when he asked her on a date and, after some plans had to change last minute, he made her favorite dish – a grilled cheese, making sure to use the cheap cheese she liked and including an egg in the middle, just like her dad used to make.

Paired with a glass of wine and eaten while sitting on the floor, it was completely opposite of what Lucifer might consider an important date, yet he did it for her.
