Lucifer co-showrunner Joe Henderson has confirmed season 6 of the concluding drama will be ten episodes long. Starring Tom Ellis as the charming and devilish Lucifer Morningstar, Lucifer sees the DC Devil abandoning Hell and acting as a consultant for the LAPD, partnering up with homicide detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German). The series was originally canceled after three seasons on Fox but was graciously resurrected by Netflix after a successful fan campaign to save the show. Though the streamer originally announced Lucifer season 5 would be its last, it delighted viewers by reversing its decision and granting Lucifer a sixth – and definitely final – season back in June 2020. The final episodes are on the way now, with the very last Lucifer table read recently taking place.

Now, in an interview with wordballoon, Henderson has officially confirmed Lucifer’s final episode count, stating it is “10 [episodes] for our final season.” This puts it below season 5's number of episodes, but on par with season 4's.

It’s not often a show is granted an unexpected extra season, so the Lucifer creative team will be sure to make every episode count and create a satisfying conclusion for the series. Viewers don’t have to worry about the show wrapping up just yet, however – Lucifer season 5 part 2 still needs to premiere, with its release date only recently confirmed by Netflix to be May 28, 2021. Excitingly, the back half of season 5 includes the show’s highly anticipated musical episode, “Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam." So even as Lucifer begins its conclusion, there’s still plenty for viewers to be looking forward to.
