Which characters are returning for Lucifer season 5 and who is joining the cast? The hit supernatural series about the Devil and Chloe Decker returns to Netflix, but with a twist: Lucifer season 5 has been split into two 8-episode halves. Lucifer Season 5, Part 1 premieres on August 21, 2020, but Netflix hasn't announced when fans can expect the latter half of the season.

Lucifer season 5 picks up after the events of season 4's shocking ending: the Devil abandoned Los Angeles and returned to rule Hell. This leaves Detective Chloe Decker behind to pick up the pieces after she admitted she loves Lucifer, even though she fully understands he's the Devil. But complicating matters in Lucifer season 5 is the arrival of Michael, the archangel who is also Lucifer's identical twin. Michael arrived in LA to usurp the Devil's life and has a sinister plot to ruin Lucifer for eternity.

Meanwhile, the rest of Lucifer's eclectic cast is coping with their own problems, and they all find themselves as unwitting pawns in Michael's Machiavellian scheme. With Netflix renewing Lucifer for a sixth and final season, this first 8-episode block of episodes begins the final chapters of the show and it also includes a black-and-white film noir episode set during Lucifer's adventures in the 1940s. Here is who's who in Lucifer Season 5, Part 1.
