The angels, immortals, and devil on Netflix’s Lucifer all have a lot to learn when it comes to their lives on Earth. The demon Mazikeen’s biggest challenge has been figuring out how to fit in and make friends. After spending millennia as Lucifer’s right-hand woman, she couldn’t exactly relate to human problems. Slowly, though, she started to care about a select group of people.

Since then, Maze has proven she can be a good friend. On the other hand, there are moments where she doesn’t do right by her new pals. Here are 6 times Maze was a good friend, and 4 times she wasn’t.

GOOD FRIEND: DEFENDING CHLOE AT GIRLS' NIGHT

Initially Maze didn’t like Chloe much. She resented Chloe for taking her place as Lucifer’s confidante and didn't appreciate the way her influence changed him. Yet, when Lucifer asked her to take Chloe out, Maze took on the challenge. And over the course of the evening, she started to warm up to the uptight detective.

So, when a woman got angry with Chloe at the tiki bar where they were hanging out, Maze stepped in. While Maze is always ready to use her fists to solve problems, Maze’s desire to defend Chloe came from a genuine place. It was the start of a good friendship between the two.

BAD FRIEND: TELLING OFF DAN AND INSULTING TRIXIE

Maze and Dan from Lucifer standing together, facing one another.

The first friend Maze made on Earth was Chloe and Dan’s 9-year-old daughter Trixie. And after Maze moved in with Chloe, she even started to bond with Dan. Yet, when Maze got a glimpse of the downside of friendship, she began to act out. When Dan called her on her terrible behavior, she lashed out at him and called Trixie a “brat.”

Maze’s desire for the simplicity of demonhood made her toxic even though Dan and especially Trixie had done nothing to deserve her wrath. Maze's behavior towards Trixie was especially heartbreaking. The two had a special relationship that was meaningful to both of them — until Maze ruined it.

GOOD FRIEND: HELPING DAN ON A CASE

After Dan loses Charlotte, he grows inpatient with the rules of police work. While everyone else barely tolerates his struggle, Maze meets him on his level. She suggests they go after the gang Dan believes is responsible for a crime even without a warrant. Dan is exhilarated when the two of them take on the whole gang alone.

While it could be argued that Maze is enabling Dan’s bad behavior, it can’t be denied that she’s the only one who lets him get the emotional release he needs.

BAD FRIEND: THROWING A TERRIBLE BACHELORETTE PARTY FOR CHLOE

When Chloe and Cain get engaged after barely dating, Maze doesn’t want anything to get in the way of their pending nuptials. Despite the fact that Cain no longer wants to work with Maze on their plan to take down Lucifer and Chloe, Maze still wants to follow through with or without him — and Chloe and Cain's wedding is a big part of that.

That means nothing can interfere with Chloe and Cain getting married as far as Maze is concerned. Yet, everyone in Chloe’s orbit knows that Lucifer could potentially ruin her relationship with Cain. Still, Maze is determined to help Chloe stay oblivious until she’s married. So instead of the rowdy girls' night everyone anticipates for Chloe’s bachelorette party. Maze takes over the plans and throws a boring, innocuous event to prevent anything interfering with the wedding.

GOOD FRIEND: GIFTING LINDA’S BABY A BLANKET

Linda preparing for her baby in Lucifer

Maze didn’t exactly have a traditional upbringing. Being a demon meant she didn’t get a lot of love or nurturing as a child. So when she learns Linda’s pregnant she doesn’t really know how to be supportive.

Nonetheless, she wants to help Linda and do something nice for the baby. It takes her a long time to figure it out, but she eventually gives Linda the gift of a baby blanket. It’s something she believes she would have liked when she was little.

GOOD FRIEND: TAKING TRIXIE TRICK OR TREATING

Trixie in her Halloween costume in Lucifer.

When Maze scares away the babysitter who was supposed to take Trixie trick or treating for Halloween, Maze ends up having to do the honors. While initially she isn’t enthusiastic about the task, she starts to enjoy it after she helps Trixie make her costume as the president of Mars.

Later, when Trixie comments that she wishes Maze wore a costume, Maze shifts into her demon face to make Trixie happy. While Maze is nervous to see what Trixie’s reaction will be, she’s relieved when Trixie just thinks Maze’s “costume” is cool.

BAD FRIEND: HOLDING A GRUDGE AGAINST LINDA

Lucifer Linda Amenadiel Maze

When Maze learned that Linda and Amenadiel were seeing each other, she wasn’t comfortable with the  arrangement. So she asked them to end the relationship. Linda and Amenadiel’s feelings for each other were genuine, though, and they secretly continued dating. Maze eventually found out and she was less than understanding.

Instead of trying to look at it from Linda or Amenadiel's perspectives, Maze refused to forgive them. She was especially hard on Linda, holding a grudge against her for a long time.

GOOD FRIEND: HEALING AMENADIEL

Amenadiel grimaces in pain in an episode from season 4 of Lucifer.

Maze and Amenadiel have a complicated relationship. The demon and angel really shouldn’t get along, but on Earth they sometimes find they have more in common than they’d expect.

When Amenadiel is stabbed with a demon blade, something that could end his life, Maze steps in. And after it becomes clear that only something divine will heal him, Maze uses the feather she secretly kept from Lucifer’s stolen wings to do so. She was planning to use the feather to get back to Hell. But she gives it to Amenadiel without hesitation when he needs it — even though she's just as surprised by her actions as Amenadiel is.

BAD FRIEND: AGREEING TO WORK WITH CAIN

After burning most of her bridges with her friends, Maze decides to leave town. Before she can take off, though, she’s stopped by Cain. He wants to work with her on a plan he believes can help them both. While neither of them likes the other,  Maze takes Cain up on the offer because she wants revenge against the people she thinks wronged her.

So Maze is more than willing to help Cain frame Lucifer. And in the process she works to drive Lucifer and Chloe apart and hurt them both. While the root of Maze's anger originated in her friends' betrayal, she’s more than willing to betray her friends in retaliation.

GOOD FRIEND: FIGHTING CAIN’S MINIONS TO SAVE LINDA

When Maze refuses to help Cain take out Amenadiel, the pair have a knock down, drag out fight over the situation. Maze gets the upper hand but Cain stops her by claiming that if his life ends so will Linda’s.

Cain drugs and ties Maze up. As soon as she wakes up, though, Maze breaks out of her bindings and battles through 12 of Cain’s minions to get to Linda. When she finally reaches her office, Maze can barely stand. But she’s far more concerned about Linda than herself. After an extended period of time at odds, Maze and Linda finally repair their friendship.
