The move from FX to Netflix gave Lucifer the opportunity to gain a wider audience and it quickly became a success on the streaming platform. The supernatural crime procedural wrapped up after six seasons, and viewers have a wide variety of thoughts about its emotional conclusion. Although Lucifer's final season is full of surprises, everything ends up falling into place.

The series finale is bittersweet, as Lucifer's return to hell is as necessary as it is heartbreaking. Yet, Lucifer and Chloe are partners until the end, and no force in the universe can keep them apart for good. Whether it's in relation to characters, relationships, or the way the show wraps up, not all fans share the same point of view. Lucifans took to Reddit to share their unpopular opinions about the series as a whole.

Michael Doesn't Feel Guilty For Killing Chloe

Chloe dies in Lucifer's arms.

Chloe's death in the final episode of Lucifer season 5 leaves Lucifer more distraught than viewers have ever seen him. Michael appears to express immediate regret for his actions, but Reddit user Beautiful_Jeweler_63 believes that he's simply "scared of Lucifer's anger."

They go on to say that Michael feels no guilt and is "trying to calm [Lucifer] down and needle his fears at the same time." While his mindset remains up to interpretation, many viewers see Michael's shock as proof that he didn't think before he acted.

Pierce Is A Likable Character

Tom Welling as Marcus Pierce in Lucifer

Pierce is the main antagonist of Lucifer season 3, and his insincere romance with Chloe is only one of many reasons why fans tend to hate him. Reddit user CrevettoCurry doesn't like Pierce as a person, but they do find him likable as a character.

The user loves and hates him at different points in the show, and thinks Pierce is "really good at being both loveable and loathsome." Characters don't need to be a hero to be entertaining, and several of the most popular ones in Lucifer are considered to be a villain at certain points. This is still an unpopular opinion, as Pierce causes more trouble than he's worth.

Trixie Is Annoying

It's not uncommon for viewers to find younger characters underdeveloped in television. In most cases, the protagonist's child is used as a plot device during times when it's convenient and forgotten about when it isn't.

However, Trixie is one of the rare exceptions who is widely loved by fans. Therefore, Reddit user Lil-Maece's opinion that she "can be kinda annoying," is considered an unpopular one. Trixie forms dynamic relationships with characters outside of Chloe and she plays a key role in Maze's development.

Ella Is Too Clueless

Although she's a devoted Christian, Ella is the last of the main characters to know the truth about celestials. Rather than hearing it firsthand, she does her own investigating and comes to terms with Lucifer being the devil at the end of the series. Most of the audience's anger is directed at her friends for lying, rather than Ella herself.

But Reddit user I_Luv_Luci feels that she's too clueless and they can't comprehend "the desire for Ella to find out about Lucifer since her character is so unaware." However, it's because Ella's been in the dark for so long that fans are especially curious to see her reaction. She has the most faith of everyone and the news will impact Ella's life astronomically.

Deckerstar Ruins The Show

Lucifer and Chloe's relationship, which is also known as "Deckerstar," is the heart of the series. But there are bound to be people who aren't invested in their romance, and Reddit user stopthree thinks that the couple negatively impacts the show.

They aren't a fan of the fifth season because they feel it's "become too much about the Deckerstar plot," and prefer the celestial storylines. Viewers can prefer certain aspects of the show over others, but the Deckerstar scenes in Lucifer are what drive the plot.

Dan's Best Character Arc Is In Season 4

Dan looking onwards in Lucifer.

For the first three seasons of Lucifer, Dan's main role is to act as the comic relief. His quirky personality makes him funny on his own, but the relationship between Dan and Lucifer is a common area from which the show pulls its humor. Many fans develop a dislike for Dan when he lashes out at Lucifer in the fourth season, following Charlotte's death.

Not everyone shares this opinion, and Reddit user LMkingly feels that the storyline allows him to become a more fleshed-out character than "goofy Dan." They argue that he becomes "a lot more thought-provoking" and "finally got some much-needed depth." Regardless of what it does for his characterization, the way he behaves toward Lucifer is unfair. It's difficult to sympathize with Dan when he treats the people who help him as a punching bag.

Lucifer And Eve Are Better Than Lucifer And Chloe

Out of all the unpopular opinions about the series, this is the one that viewers are least likely to agree with. A Reddit user "just likes them better" and sees it as a plus that the couple was together in the past.

Even those who don't care much for Lucifer and Chloe tend to take a liking to Eve and Maze, which makes Eve's relationship with Lucifer distasteful to the vast majority. Their incompatibility is based on who they are and what they want, rather than any outside factors.

The Series Finale Doesn't Make Sense

Rory says goodbye to her parents in the Lucifer series finale.

The majority of fans are satisfied by how Lucifer wraps up, but Reddit user _MySputnikSweetheart feels there are too many plot holes. One of the main points they make is in relation to how the show portrays time travel. The user writes that "there must have been a 'prime' version of the event in which Rory didn't go back in time, which means there must have been an initial reason for Lucifer to leave, [resulting in him finding his calling.]"

However, there are different approaches to the phenomenon, and the show's take on time travel is based on a popular theory. Because Rory creates a loop, there is no instance in which she doesn't go back to the past. Since a loop doesn't have an origin point, some find this notion implausible. But no matter one's individual take on the matter, Lucifer simply uses an age-old concept to set the events of the series finale into motion.

Maze's Anger At Lucifer In Season 5 Is Justified

Lucifer and Maze's friendship has been a vital aspect of the show since the pilot and it's never easy to see them at odds. While most fans are put off by the way Maze treats him in Lucifer season 5, Reddit user something-stupidlike argues that her anger is justified. They understand how she feels and claims that Lucifer "completely missed the point of why she was upset."

The user believes Lucifer should tell Maze that he wants her to join him in hell rather than assuming she'll just show up. Even if this is true, the miscommunication between them doesn't excuse Maze's actions. Lucifer unknowingly hurts his best friend's feelings, while Maze retaliates by betraying him and teaming up with Michael.

Chloe Is The Worst Part Of The Show

While Chloe is intended to be a likable character in Lucifer, not everyone feels that it comes across on screen. A Reddit user claims that she is "painfully boring" and that the writers "forgot to give her a personality." Additionally, they aren't rooting for Lucifer and Chloe to get together, despite their relationship being at the center of the series.

Chloe might appear closed off when she's first introduced, but she has a fantastic character arc. Lucifer helps her take life less seriously, and shee becomes unrecognizable from the person viewers meet in the first episode.
