"Tell me, what do you truly desire?" Just as with quotes like this, only true fans understand when they come across a meme about the show Lucifer. It might seem funny to others, but without having watched all five seasons to date, the memes just don't have the same level of hilarity — or might not be funny at all.

From jokes about the show itself dating all the way back to the first season of Lucifer to ones that target the Fox network and its supposed premature cancellation of the series, the internet is rife with funny memes about Lucifer that express how deeply fans really love the show.

Season 1, 2, And 3 Chloe

Lucifer's relationship with Chloe was up and down, hot and cold through the many seasons. But the most intriguing dynamic was when he continuously insisted to her that he was the Devil and she shrugged it off as just yet another one of his wacky metaphors.

Despite Chloe believing he never lied, she didn't truly understand that he really was telling the truth about this until the third season. But in the first two seasons, that facial expression is exactly what he got when he kept telling her over and over again that he was the Devil. At least the pair finally shared one of the best kisses on Lucifer.

144P Vs. 4K

Television resolution has come a long way since the '70s, '80s, and even '90s, with technology that evolved to high-definition, and now 4K. This meme hilariously depicts how 4K technology can really brighten up a picture and make images much clearer.

Back in the day, fans might have seen a red devil with a small, blonde child on their low-definition screens. But once able to see up close and in 4K detail, this meme suggests that it's actually Lucifer and a brown-haired Trixie — two of the characters on Lucifer who will likely never die.

Lucifer's catchphrase is, of course, "What is it you truly desire?" Chloe's expression is the same one she gave him many times before — utter disdain. But she also gave him this look when he tried to use his "mojo" on her.

As fans know, it didn't work. But Lucifer's face, so sure that he would get his answer combined with Chloe's face that says "What are you doing?" are so perfectly matched.

Lucifer Is Cancelled

The ongoing running joke about Lucifer is that Fox surprised fans by seemingly prematurely canceling the series after the third season. While ratings and reviews had generally been mixed, there was a dedicated legion of fans who loved the show.

So, it came as no surprise that Netflix scooped up the series for a fourth, fifth, and upcoming final sixth season. This meme perfectly sums up the situation in just two MCU photos and some captions.

Dark Mode On V.s Dark Mode Off

Dark mode is a great feature that's available for many computers, smartphones, tablets, and other devices with screens. The idea is that the colors are flipped so the background becomes black in dark mode and the type is light so that it's easier to read in the dark.

In this meme, Lucifer as the Devil is what fans get with dark mode on; Lucifer in his human form is when dark mode is off.

Typically, saying someone's child is an "angel" suggests that they are sweet, kind, well-behaved, and generally a good influence on others. But any fan of the show knows that Lucifer actually was (and is) an angel, too — he was anything but well-behaved.

Having the whispered response of "So was Lucifer" in this meme being attributed to Jack Donaghy, Alec Baldwin's character from 30 Rock, makes it that much funnier.

Dan's Hell Loop

As fans who watched all five seasons know — spoiler alert — Dan dies in season 5. Not only that but it's confirmed that he's in Hell, consumed by his own negative thoughts and unable to release whatever guilt is holding him back from Heaven. Dan was a villain on Lucifer, in some ways, but this still came as a surprise to fans.

This meme makes light of that situation, suggesting that Dan's hell loop actually involves him walking to the office kitchen, over and over, only to find that someone has stolen his pudding — again!

Face Of The Devil

Fans recall this hilarious scene when a man was spewing the word of God on the streets of Los Angeles, claiming the Devil walks among everyone. He was in for a rude awakening when Lucifer declared that yes, not only was it true, but the Devil was right in front of him.

The look on the man's face when Lucifer showed him both his glowing red eyes and his Devil face was priceless.

Here Comes Lucifer

One of the most iconic horror movie images is this one of Jack Nicholson from The Shining. And while Lucifer was not as sadistic as Nicholson's character in that movie became, the facial expression is like an amped-up version of Lucifer when he cocks his head to the side, smiles, and asks someone what they truly desire.

Of course, Lucifer is not quite as menacing most of the time. He does have a similarly dark side to Nicholson's character in the movie, who became possessed by supernatural forces. But if anyone was just as dark from the show, it was more so Lucifer's twin brother Michael, who did some terrible things on Lucifer.

We All Need A Little Lucifer

Without knowing much about the show, this meme seems like nothing more than a sweet one about how the character brings joy to people's lives. But looking closer reveals something more.

Fans will notice that the quote is attributed to Lucifer himself, demonstrating his self-centered, egotistical, narcissistic nature. It's so like Lucifer to be the one to say that everyone needs more of him in their lives.
