Lucifer writers Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich discuss if Lucifer and Chloe reunite with their daughter Rory after the events of the series finale. Lucifer concluded its six-season, 93-episode run on September 10, 2021, on Netflix, which picked up the series after it was canceled on Fox. The revival led to high viewership numbers on the platform.

Lucifer recently concluded the story of the titular demon (Tom Ellis) and his partner Chloe (Lauren German) as Lucifer returns to his domain in Hell on a mission to redeem all the lost souls. The finale then sees Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) as the new God of Heaven, who allows Chloe to travel to Hell to reunite with Lucifer. Though the conclusion reunited the pair, it left open the question of what happened to their daughter Rory, a half-human-half-angel who was introduced in the final season of Lucifer.

In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant in promotion of the final season's home media release, showrunners Henderson and Modrovich say that the couple reunites with their daughter, who has free access to travel from Heaven to Hell. They say they considered a version where Rory brought Chloe to Hell, and was included in the final scene, but how they ultimately decided to make it only about Lucifer and Chloe. They go on to say that Rory would be there in Hell with her parents, and their lives would continue down there. Read their quotes below:

Joe: We feel like the next scene is Rory popping in. We literally had a lot of conversations about this, because there was a version where Rory came down with, there's a version where it was Rory that actually brought her mom down. But we really wanted Amenadiel to have that moment and speak to his new position as God, and we also really wanted to separate it, so it was just Chloe and Lucifer together. But to us, like, that session finished, they walked out and Rory was like, "Alright, let's go watch More Bones."

Ildy: Yeah, and in the language of the show, she has wings, and she's an angel and she could fly down anytime. We knew that was hopefully clear to everybody and [left] no doubt that she would be down there.

Lucifer Chloe Rory

It's clear the pair didn't want ambiguity to any of the character's fates on the show, even with an eventual Lucifer continuation being mentioned, they didn't want to leave any loose strings in the story. Due to the show's abrupt cancelation on Fox, it wouldn't be surprising to say the two have learned to not leave cliffhangers on the chance that they could never be resolved. With the show's transfer to Netflix, Henderson and Modrovich were able to conclude the story on their terms.

Lucifer may not have been the most critically praised show ever, but it certainly had a wide fanbase that stuck with it all the way to the end. Henderson and Modrovich were able to tell the story they wanted without having to succumb to early cancelation like so many high-quality shows. In the end, the showrunners have confirmed that Lucifer and Chloe reunite with Rory at the end of Lucifer and life will go on for the happy family, presumably for eternity.
