A guide to collecting every single Korok seed in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, including detailed maps and the best order to collect them in, is a Deus Ex Machina for anyone trying to 100% the 2017 open-world masterpiece. Breath of the Wild is all about exploring the land of Hyrule and discovering its secrets. Nine hundred miniature puzzles are scattered across the land, each hiding a friendly Korok (little sapling creature) waiting to give Link a seed. These seeds can be used to upgrade the number of weapons Link can carry by giving them to the giant, maraca-shaking Korok named Hestu in the thicket of forest north of Hyrule Castle.

Less than half of these puzzles need to be solved in order to max out the inventory. Collecting all 900 Korok seeds is a gargantuan task that only the most dedicated Breath of the Wild players see to the end, only to be rewarded with Hestu’s Gift: a larger Korok seed with the item description, “A gift of friendship given to you by Hestu. It smells pretty bad.” This is when players discover that this whole time that the “seeds” they’ve been collecting are actually just Korok droppings.

A map of Korok seed locations on the Great Plateau (Link’s starting location in Breath of the Wild) was posted in the Breath of the Wild subreddit by the user callumblues12 complete with the recommended order to collect the seeds. The post links to callumblues12’s YouTube channel, Terminator_8464, where fans can also find 15 video guides to Korok seed locations in each region of Hyrule. These videos range in length from a little over eight minutes to over 40 minutes, each with links to an image of the Korok seed locations in numbered order on the map of each region.

Callumblues12’s Reddit posted the Great Plateau map earlier today. The series of guides on the user’s YouTube channel was actually finished in 2017, a little over a month after the release of Breath of the Wild. The playlist has since accumulated almost 640,000 views and is certain to help more people increase the number of weapons Link can carry and obtain Hestu’s coveted gift now that it has seen new life on Reddit.

With more Korok seeds than there are Pokémon, completing this collectathon is a Herculean feat meant only for Hestu’s chosen few. It is all the more impressive that callumblues12 managed to discover all 900 seeds so quickly after Breath of the Wild’s release and without the help of guides. Most impressive is that the user managed to optimize the challenge by coming up with an efficient order as to which seed to collect when. Hats off to callumblues12 and good luck to those in pursuit of Hestu’s special gift.
