Hulu has renewed Love, Victor for a third season. The television series was originally inspired by the 2018 film Love, Simon, starring Nick Robinson in the lead role. After the film's success, a story set in the same universe was produced by 20th Television with Michael Cimino as the title character, which ultimately found a home at the streaming platform Hulu in 2020. Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger act as showrunners for the series.

The first season explored Victor's journey in wrestling with family troubles in a new city while he struggles with his sexual orientation. This June marked the debut of Love, Victor season 2. The second season follows Victor's story after coming out, as many things in life seem different. He faces relationship troubles with Benji, as he continues to deal with problems at home with his family. However, a new potential love interest appears, making things more difficult.

THR announced that Hulu has officially renewed Love, Victor for season 3. The number of episodes and a release date have not been confirmed as of yet. The first two seasons both contain 10 episodes, so it's expected to follow the same format. They also both were released in June of 2020 and 2021, so a summer release date seems likely.

Given the fact that Hulu doesn't release viewership data in the way that traditional television does, the most recent season has been received well. Critics and audiences have been giving high reviews on review aggregate websites. Love, Victor has expanded past coming out as a plot point. Given that Pataker and Berger are in a deal with 20th Television, it isn't too surprising that they're working on more content for them. In addition, they're also working on This Is Us and How I Met Your Father.

With Hulu announcing a third season soon after the second season was released, it's clear that the streaming service is confident in how Love, Victor has been performing. Even though there has been some backlash around actors Cimino and George Sear being straight men playing gay characters, it's good to know that LGBTQIA+ content is being made and distributed through one of the major streaming platforms. For Hulu to compete with competitors such as Netflix, they have to show their staying power. While having a strong library of acquired content is important, having scripted originals for the platform has proven to be particularly crucial to building a brand for a streaming service and drawing folks to the service.
