Warning! Major spoilers for Love, Victor season 1 below.

Can audiences expect Love, Victor to return for season 2? The Love, Simon spinoff unintentionally made waves when it was moved to Hulu, as Disney+ decided its "adult themes" was too much for its platform. But after a successful first season, what can audiences expect from a potential Love, Victor season 2?

Love, Victor season 1 follows Victor (Michael Cimino) as he begins his sophomore year at his new school, Creekwood High. He navigates drama with his family and new friends while holding onto a big secret — he thinks he might be gay. Victor heard the story of former Creekwood student Simon publicly declaring his love for his now-boyfriend Bram. Throughout the span of Love, Victor season 1, Victor and Simon exchange messages on social media about life at Creekwood. Victor looks to Simon for guidance on navigating life while juggling his secret.

Love, Victor season 1 ended with Victor coming out to a few new friends and beginning his journey to self-acceptance. This leaves the door open for plenty of new stories to explore in future seasons. Here's what to expect from a potential Love, Victor season 2.

Love, Victor Season 2 Renewal Status

Currently, Love, Victor only just wrapped up season 1, meaning there has been no decision regarding a potential Love, Victor season 2. Hulu will need time to analyze viewership before moving forward with a decision on renewal. But as Love, Victor season 1 was generally received by critics, audiences can likely expect Love, Victor season 2.

The longer Hulu waits to announce renewal news for Love, Victor, the longer it will be for audiences to see Love, Victor season 2. The coronavirus pandemic caused production delays across the board for film and television, and should Love, Victor be renewed for season 2, the show will be affected by the ripple effects of those delays. Should the Hulu show be renewed, fans can likely expect Love, Victor season 2 in the beginning of 2022 at the earliest.

Throughout the majority of Love, Victor season 1, Victor struggles with coming to terms with his sexuality. The Love, Victor season 1 finale sees Victor coming out to his new friends in New York City, after making a failed pass at his crush Benji. Beginning to accept his sexuality will trigger a chain of events back in Creekwood. As his journey of self-discovery is the main focus of Love, Victor, he likely won't come out to everyone in his life in a potential Love, Victor season 2.

However, season 2 of the Hulu show would likely see Victor beginning to confide in a few more people about his sexuality. Since Victor's kiss was pretty clear confirmation, he will likely seek Benji's guidance for living as an out student at Creekwood High. A potential Love, Victor season 2 would likely see Victor beginning to confide in two more people about his sexuality — Felix and his girlfriend Mia. Sharing the news with Felix won't change their relationship, but telling his girlfriend Mia absolutely will. Seeing Mia grapple with the news, along with her conflicting feelings about fellow Creekwood student Andrew, could very likely be a main plot point in Love, Victor season 2.

There are a couple things that Love, Victor fans should hold their breath for in a potential season 2. Nick Robinson's Simon had a strong presence in Love, Victor season 1, but he'll likely be phased out so the show can start to stand out of the shadow of its predecessor. Victor comes from a loving, yet very religious family. Coming out to them will be a scary and important milestone for Victor. Audiences can probably expect Victor to tell his family at the end of Love, Victor season 2 or even further down the line, but no matter when it happens, Love, Victor will have plenty to work with for a potential season 2.
