Carlos King secured Monique Samuels for Love & Marriage: DC and explains why she wasn't the right fit for The Real Housewives of Potomac. As the show's executive producer and a former Real Housewives producer, Carlos is well-versed in what makes for the perfect housewife. With Monique making a dramatic exit from RHOP following a drama-filled season 5, fans are anticipating her return to reality television and how she'll fit in with the cast. Nonetheless, Carlos believes LAMDC will be more up Monique's alley since RHOP wasn't the right fit.

Monique left RHOP after issuing out one of the most scathing reads in Housewives history at the season 5 reunion. She left the show vowing to never return. Monique even admitted she was asked to join the Ultimate Girls Trip spin-off, but she turned them down. Andy Cohen has shared his hopes for Monique's return to the franchise, but she has expressed her disdain for production and how she was treated following her physical fight with RHOP castmate Candiace Dillard. Instead of returning to Bravo, Monique and Chris Samuels are making their debut on OWN as the leading couple on Carlos' first spin-off in his Love & Marriage franchise.

Carlos King recently explained why he feels like LAMDC is more of a fit for Monique than RHOP turned out to be. "I think a lot of people saw Monique as one side on Potomac," Carlos told Black Enterprise. "I've always been a fan of Monique. I never felt like Monique belonged on that show." As a former producer on The Real Housewives of Atlanta's highest-rated seasons and a few seasons of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Carlos is well-versed in what makes for a dynamic cast. When looking back at Monique's time on RHOP, Carlos thinks "she was somebody who could go along with those particular women on that show," he said.

The Reality With The King host explained how Monique is more in her element on LAMDC because "she's around women and men who she knows and who she wants to develop a stronger friendship with," he said. Carlos also dished on what fans can expect from her debut on LAMDC and Monique's return to reality TV. He teased how viewers coming over from Bravo will see a different side of Monique and someone who's very "present" with the cast. He also teased the "different side" of Monique and Chris' marriage that viewers didn't get to see on RHOP. Carlos also revealed how Monique and Chris came into the show on the cusp of celebrating their 10-year wedding anniversary.

The executive producer says from episode 1 all the way to episode 10, viewers will get a deeper look into Monique and Chris' marriage in a way that will keep them reeled in. Love & Marriage: DC will be Monique's first time on reality television in nearly two years. With the show following the dynamic of married couples, all eyes will be on the Samuels to see if they can make it through the drama as a unit. If the new show is anything like Love & Marriage: Huntsville, then Monique and Chris are in for a bumpy ride. LAMDC premieres on May 14 at 9 pm ET/PT on OWN.
