HGTV's Love It Or List It is one of the best home reno shows on the network. It's not just watching the couples argue back and forth that makes it so stellar, it's the designer and the real estate agent vying for that couple's vote.

Real estate agent David Visentin is always pushing designer Hilary Farr's buttons, causing the best kind of comical moments between the two. Farr is quite an amazing woman and designer, and while viewers know that she can walk into any house with any budget and make it fit into a families' life (as well as create functional spaces), Love It Or List It fans don't know much about her personally.

The 68-year-old is a Toronto native and her designer capabilities appear to be a generational trait, according to HGTV, as her mother was also a home decorator, who was the inspiration behind Farr's decision to go into design. Hilary Farr attended Ryerson University and moved to Los Angeles after graduation. This is when her career really caught fire. She started redesigning homes and some film and television sets. Being in that world, with a second passion for acting, she decided to audition for some acting roles. She was cast in a few films, including The Rocky Horror Picture Show. As everyone knows, she now stars on Love It Or List It and has been crafting unique spaces for the show since 2008.

Farr was once married to a writer and producer, Gordon Farr, and the two share a son. They divorced in 2008, which is when Farr met her co-star David Visentin. Fans have speculated that they have a relationship, but the British Canadian seems to be completely invested in her dog, not a boyfriend. Mimi is the most adorable tiny Chihuahua and she is completely adored by Farr. The pooch is featured on her Instagram regularly. The home-savvy reality TV host of Love It Or List It also seems to enjoy a healthy home-cooked meal. She recently posted a sheet pan veggie tray to her Instagram page.

She's still filming with her co-host Visentin for Love It Or List It and posts pictures of the two of them both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. She's such an interesting character that seems so put together and like she really knows what she wants out of life. Just like her renovation designs for reality TV, she can make anything functional and fun. Be sure to learn more about her on Love It Or List It.
