They might not have found a soulmate on Love Island USA, but season 1 alum Weston Richey and season 2 alum Kaitlynn Anderson are now getting flirty on Instagram. Weston Richey was one of the boys that entered the Love Island USA villa on day one. At first, Weston was coupled up with Mallory Santic... but he dumped her on day 9 to be with Katrina Dimaranan instead. Over the last two weeks of the season, Weston was involved with two other girls: Kelsey Jurewicz and Emily Salch. With Emily, Weston made it all the way to the Final 4. However, Weston and Emily placed fourth.
In 2020, Kaitlynn Anderson was cast on Love Island USA season 2. She was one of the five day-one girls introduced during the season premiere. Initially, Kaitlynn was coupled with Carrington Rodriguez. However, it became clear rather quickly that the couple wasn't going to endure the test of time. When new girl Kierstan Saulter was introduced to the villa, Carrington was clearly interested in getting to know her right away. Kaitlynn tried to find a connection with Tre Forte in an attempt to stay on the show, but was ultimately was dumped from the villa on day 5. Now, it seems like she's looking for love elsewhere.
Love Island USA season 1 alum Weston Richey and season 2 alum Kaitlynn Anderson have been flirting on Instagram as of late. First, Weston shared a picture on Instagram asking what made his followers happy. Kaitlynn said that Chik-fil-A made her happy. Weston asked what she ate on Sundays (when Chik-fil-A restaurants are closed), but Kaitlynn commented that her response wouldn't be "Instagram appropriate." On Kaitlynn's Instagram, Weston commented on a steamy picture of hers with fire emoji. When a fan pointed out that Weston was hitting on Kaitlynn, he tried to downplay it. Kaitlynn, however, was more direct: "maybe I was the one to hit on him Anthony." Days later, Weston asked his Instagram followers which Love Island USA season 2 girl he'd couple up with. Season 1 alum Elizabeth Weber teased that she has Kaitlynn's phone number, and Cashel Barnett encouraged the initiative. Then, Kaitlynn and Weston commented laughing it off.
This is certainly a surprising interaction to take place outside of Love Island USA. Given how the show works, there was always a chance that Kaitlynn could be brought back into the villa... with that said, it seems that Instagram is working out in her search to find love. Since Kaitlynn and Weston connected through Love Island in a way, there's also the possibility that the show can claim that it was responsible for this potential romantic affair.
Meanwhile, Love Island USA season 2 will move forward, as there are still plenty of islanders who are looking for love in Las Vegas. Still, this interaction between Kaitlynn and Weston is setting a precedent for alumni to potentially couple up while outside of the villa as well.
