Isaiah Campbell and Sydney Paight have received a lot of criticism from Love Island USA fans, but luckily, fellow contestant Mady McLanahan is on their side. Isaiah and Sydney's show relationship has been an emotional journey since the start. They weren't in the villa for a week before Isaiah had already made Sydney cry by walking off with bombshell Valerie Bragg for a chat. However, no matter what went on between the two, they always found their way back to each other, typically after Isaiah begged for Sydney's forgiveness and insisted he's never felt as strongly about anyone as he does for her.

Fans have had strong opinions about the two, calling Sydney and Isaiah's relationship toxic and wishing the female islander would leave him for good. However, Sydney has disappointed them every time as no matter what happens, her connection with Isaiah outweighs the bad. Recently, Isaiah apologized to Sydney for a comment he made at Casa Amor that hurt her feelings. He shed tears for the first time, showing Sydney how much he really does care about her. Then with the help of the other islanders at the villa, he planned a romantic night with Sydney and asked her to be his girlfriend, to which she happily agreed.

Despite the romantic gesture, some fans are still struggling to hop on board the Sydney and Isaiah ship, prompting Mady to defend the happy couple from fan criticism. The official Love Island USA Instagram page posted a clip from Isaiah's big night, and Mady shared in their joy, commenting, "I cried. I'm so happy for them." Unfortunately, some fans chose to comment their negative opinions on the post, wondering why Mady would support such a "toxic" couple. The Love Island USA contestant wouldn't let anyone talk badly about her friends, so she quickly responded to one of the critical fans.

Mady replied, "I know them both personally, and both people are amazing. Never forget the public sees a small percentage of what's actually happening. All islanders are real people with real feelings who all deserve to be happy." While some Love Island USA fans have been critical of the islanders all season long, others have expressed similar opinions to Mady. In response to criticism that Phoebe Siegel has been getting, some fans have defended her, saying producers are likely giving her a bad edit in order to create drama and entertainment for the show.

While Isaiah and Sydney may not have come across as the healthiest couple on the show, it's good to see their friend has their back. There's no denying reality TV shows love to stir up drama and edit situations to make them seem worse than they are just to give fans something to talk about. It's likely there have been many incredible moments between Isaiah and Sydney that have not been seen on the show. While it's okay to have opinions about what's happening on Love Island USA, fans need to remember that they only know what producers are letting them see, and they should treat the islanders with respect and kindness.

Love Island USA airs Tuesdays through Sundays at 9 p.m. EDT on Peacock.
