Jacques joined the cast of Love Island UK to stir the pot, as he is original Islander Gemma Owen's ex-boyfriend. They both found other connections on the show, with Gemma pairing up with Luca Bish, and Jacques finding Paige. Though Jacques and Paige had a strong start to their relationship, fans quickly saw the red flags even when Paige did not. Reddit users are calling Jacques the ultimate Love Island UK villain, with Redditor Dare2ZIatan saying, "He called Paige pathetic to her face and dismissed her in Casa Amor."

When Paige and Jacques were getting close in the villa, Jay Younger chose to couple up with her. Jacques pushed Paige to spend time with Jay even after she reassured Jacques that she was still focused on him. Paige decided to go hang out with Jay for a few minutes and have a chat, leading Jacques to get extremely angry at her for no reason. Many fans have found his behavior towards Paige to be disrespectful, despite him initially coming across as comforting and caring.
