Love Island is a global hit, but it originated in the U.K. in 2005 as a celebrity-based show before transforming in 2015 into the modern incarnation that became a phenomenon. As the original version of the show, the U.K. edition also introduced the infamous Casa Amor, a separate villa where the contestants go halfway through the process to meet all-new singles and test the relationships they've established in the main villa.

It's the ultimate test for these couples, as each one is broken up and introduced to a range of new potential suitors. Of course, the situation has led to lots of drama over the years, with a number of memorable breakups, arguments, and shocking moments that keeps Love Island U.K. entertaining to its viewers.

Honorable Mention: Ovie's Arrival (Season 5 - 2019)

While it isn't dramatic in the way other Casa Amor revelations have been, basketball player Ovie Soko's introduction to Love Island was an absolute game-changer for the show. As one of the most popular Love Island contestants of all time, Ovie brought a number of genuinely unique qualities to the table.

He was a perfect friend to Amber Gill and at the center of the action when she was finally betrayed by her partner. He also formed a strong couple with India Reynolds, but it would be criminal not to mention Ovie's part in completely changing the villa upon his entry in Casa Amor thanks to his laid-back and charismatic personality.

Amy's Declaration (Season 5 - 2019)

Amy and Curtis break up on the white chairs

Amy Hart entered the villa much like anyone else: looking for love. To her surprise, she found it quickly when dancer Curtis Pritchard entered the scene and swept her off her feet. The two quickly found a strong bond, forming one of the best early Love Island couples. But Casa Amor tested their relationship heavily.

Curtis had his head turned in the other villa once he was apart from Amy, but came back single to the main villa ready to explain his change of heart. Amy's immortal words that she was going to tell Curtis that she loved him made the betrayal even more brutal. Amy decided things between her and Curtis were beyond fixing, and chose to leave Love Island alone so he could crack on with someone else.

Amber Left Behind (Season 5 - 2019)

Amber and Micahel sit on beanbags

Amber Gill and Michael Griffiths might have had their ups and downs early into their relationship, but they were one of the favorites to win their season. Amber's brutal honesty won over fans, but Michael would only endear her more to viewers thanks to his actions.

Over in Casa Amor, Michael decided to crack on with Joanna Chimonides, stating that he wasn't himself when he was with Amber. He returned to the villa coupled up with Joanna, although he would later try (and fail) to return to Amber. Meanwhile, she went on to win the show with new partner Greg O'Shea. The win was partially fuelled by the sympathy for Amber generated by Michael's actions.

Liam Strays (Season 7 - 2021)

Liam cracks on with Lillie in Casa Amor

Inventing iconic twists such as Casa Amor proves why the U.K. iteration of Love Island might be better than international versions, and the class of 2021 only continued to prove why the second villa is such an important part of the show. Liam Reardon and Millie Court were a strong couple before Liam wandered during his time in Casa Amor.

Upon his return, everything kicked off. Although Liam came back to the main villa single and ready to stay with Millie, she found out that Liam's head got turned, and that he kissed and shared his bed with another girl. However, the two managed to iron out their issues after a rough patch, with Liam apologizing prefusely and committing himself to Millie.

Dani Is Duped (Season 4 - 2018)

Dani Dyer looks stressed about Casa Amor

Love Island U.S. is celebrated as the better version of the show for a few reasons, but one thing Love Island U.K. has had going for it is a connection to major national celebrities, including Dani Dyer, whom viewers learned is the daughter of actor Danny Dyer. Love Island fans gravitated toward Dani thanks to her hilarious personality, but she was another victim of Casa Amor's high jinks.

This time, it was a video postcard that sent emotions ablaze as partner Jack Fincham was reunited in Casa Amor with an ex-girlfriend he dated before the show. It turned out that he was totally loyal the whole time he was in Casa Amor, but this manipulation of events from producers caused a lot of drama as Dani questioned her relationship.

Teddy Returns Single (Season 7 - 2021)

Teddy sits on a chair looking sad

Season 7 of Love Island U.K. saw another postcard controversy, as Faye Winter saw a photo of her partner Teddy Soares kissing another girl in Casa Amor. Despite the kiss being part of a game of "truth or dare," Faye decided she would move on quickly, while Teddy stayed loyal in his own villa.

Teddy returned from Casa Amot without coupling up with anyone else, showing that he was ready to continue with Faye. However, she had decided to recouple with a new boy. That relationship didn't last long, though, with Faye ultimately returning to Teddy after the drama was concluded.

Kem Comes Back With Another Girl (Season 3 - 2017)

Kem and Amber argue round the firepit

Some of the best episodes of Love Island involve the recoupling after Casa Amor, because viewers are kept in the dark about what the Casa Amor residents chose to do before returning. One of the early moments of the mid-season twist saw Kem Cetinay stray from his partner Amber Davies in a shocking moment.

Kem initially was caught in a video postcard shown to Amber in which he could be seen kissing new girl Chyna Ellis. Amber's worst fears came to fruition when Kem returned to the main villa with Chyna, choosing to recouple instead of staying loyal. It was a demonstration of how emotional Casa Amor could really be.

Shaughna's Congratulations (Season 6 - 2020)

Shaugna angrily greets Callum with Molly

Shaughna Phillips was an early favorite for fans of the show. Her charisma and hilarious personality capturing the attention of fans. She was smitten with her partner Callum Jones, but things between them were doomed not to last. Casa Amor created yet another significant piece of drama.

Callum's time away from Shaughna saw him fall head over heels for new girl Molly Smith. The two hit it off, and Callum returned to the villa with Molly as his new partner. Shaughna's "congrats, hun" remark let her true emotions be felt, and she would eventually leave the villa before the finale. Interestingly, Molly and Callum are still together years later.

Josh's Lack Of Loyalty (Season 4 - 2018)

Georgia Steel looks devastated round the firepit

Georgia Steel built up her own catchphrase during her time on Love Island as fans mimicked her consistently proclaiming how loyal she was. Unfortunately for Georgia, her partner Josh Denzel didn't really understand the meaning of loyalty, instead cracking on with a new girl once he was away at Casa Amor.

New bombshell Kaz Crossley coupled up with Josh for his return to the main villa, much to Georgia's fury. The scene was made even more intense because Georgia had fought to stay loyal to Josh despite several of the new boys in the villa showing an interest in her.

Molly's Relief (Season 5 - 2019)

Molly-Mae returns and is comforted by Caroline Flack

Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury were an early favorite couple for fans during season 5. Casa Amor would be a major test for the seemingly unbreakable pair, but both of them acted in a way that clearly demonstrated they were in love with each other, and both of them negotiated Casa Amor's temptations with relative ease.

Molly-Mae and Tommy's reunion after Casa Amor was intense as Molly-Mae waited to see what Tommy had chosen to do, whether he would return single or with another girl. It was am emotional scene that sent the whole villa into floods of tears, as Molly-Mae feared the worst when she didn't see her stuffed toy Ellie Belly on the bed, but it was only because Tommy was holding the toy, ready for a family reunion. The couple are still incredibly happy together today.
