A new season of Love Island UK just premiered on ITV on June 6th, 2022, and fans can hardly wait for its subsequent Hulu release. Not just for all the “grafting,” romance, and romance interrupted by Casa Amor, though. Fans universally agree that one of the best aspects of this reality show is the friendships that form throughout a season, with some of the funniest (and occasionally most heartwarming) of those being the bromances. While these men are technically in competition with each other, some managed to never let a lady get in the way of their bond, or would even help each other out in pursuing their romantic interests.

A few of these bromances have been unforgettable and lasted much longer than their island time. Almost all of these men ended up as finalists in their seasons, speaking to know how much fans loved them. Some faced controversy as viewers questioned their genuineness. For others, Love Island was the first of many projects they’d go on to do together.

Scott & Nathan: Season 2

Starting off with a throwback, Scott Thomas and Nathan Massey were a bromance before the producers were ever focused on platonic relationships between Islanders. These two both made it far, with Nathan winning the season coupled with Cara De La Hoyde, and Scott finishing third, coupled with Kady McDermott.

Each wrote soppy poems for their partners and when it came time for a challenge where the girls made clay models of their boys’ penises, Nathan mercilessly teased Cara about her model of Scott. According to r/LoveIsland, these two remained friends after leaving the villa, though Nathan and Cara’s friendship was more showcased and maybe even stronger, making this bromance slightly less memorable than others.

Toby & Teddy: Season 7

A more recent pairing that fans witnessed, Toby Aromolaren and Teddy Soares had a bromance that blossomed after Teddy entered the villa on Day 12. Toby was outgoing and goofy, while Teddy was chilled out and sweet—the two balanced each other out well. Teddy would listen to Toby talk through his struggles trying to decide between cast members Chloe Burrows and Abigail Rawling, while Toby stayed tight with Teddy despite his rows with Teddy’s final partner, Faye Winter.

Fans rooted hard for both these men, as they sought out real romantic connections and kept their unproblematic bromance with each other strong. They even taught each other; Toby inspired confidence in Teddy and Teddy helped Toby be more mature. They’ve continued to meet up since the show, with Toby posting a pic last month of the two of them, captioned “TSquared2.”

Tommy & Curtis: Season 5

Love Island stars Curtis and Tommy walks side by side

One of the most well-known friendships in Love Island, Tommy Fury and Curtis Pritchard were two peas in a pod since entering the villa together in the midst of Day 1, right after the first ten had been introduced and paired up.

These two did everything together: confided, cuddled, even kissed during a hilarious moment of Curtis professing his platonic love. After their season, they even got a spin-off show on ITV where they switched jobs, called The Boxer & The Ballroom Dancer. Unfortunately, drama has occurred since the show causing them to cut ties, plus fans had a hunch their bromance was staged between producers in an attempt to replicate genuine friendships of the past. While Curtis said in a 2020 interview that Tommy has since “pied him off,” the memory of how pure and supportive their relationship felt inside the villa remains strong.

Aaron & Hugo: Season 7

Aaron Francis and Hugo Hammond were a strong duo this most recent season. Hugo was an islander who felt as though he was permanently stuck in a friend zone with the ladies, but he truly valued his friendship with Aaron. He even began to cry when Aaron and Lucinda Strafford were eventually dumped from the island before him, calling Aaron his “best mate.” Fans were frustrated with Hugo’s chaotic decisions, and Aaron’s individually throughout the season, but loved watching their interactions with each other and the way they always had each other’s backs when drama occurred.

They’ve been “best mates” since the show, as well, appearing together in plenty of interviews and often seen hanging out with Sharon Gaffka. It says a lot about their bromance considering they were both with Sharon at different points on the island, but it seems there’s no third wheel in this trio.

Wes, Josh, & Jack F.: Season 4

This trio, consisting of Wes Nelson, Josh Denzel, and Jack Fowler, was an iconic bunch, always rowdy and always entertaining. Founders of the “Do Bits Society,” these guys clearly had a great time together in the villa, coming up with code words to describe the activities they were doing with their respective partners and being each other’s support system the entire time.

Fans even wanted them to get a spin-off show after Love Island when the three suddenly began to perform a rap to themselves once hearing that Jack would be going on a date with Laura Crane. Josh was the beatboxer while Wes and Jack delivered lines like “She’s a surfer/Her mom gave birth to her.” Bits like this kept them all around as fan favorites, even if their connection with each other was sometimes stronger than with their romantic partners. Since their season, none have stayed with the final partners from the island, but they have continued their bromance. They were all seen on a Maldives vacation in 2019.

Dr. Alex & Jack: Season 4

Alex George was another islander who struggled during his time on the show to make a worthwhile romantic connection, but his friendship with winner Jack Fincham still made hearts melt. Jack picked him back up time and time again when he felt he didn’t belong on the island, and Dr. Alex was the number one #Jani shipper. Nobody can forget Jack giving Alex a makeover and calling him a ‘peng sort.’ They spent one afternoon in the villa talking about their futures and embraced in a clumsy hug that fans loved seeing.

Some of the most popular videos from Season 4 on YouTube are Jack and Alex moments rather than one of the many couples. Fans got to see the most of Dr. Alex’s personality when he was around Jack, and Jack gushing about Dani to Alex likely contributed to Jack’s win, as he seemed so genuine in confiding in his friend. The two remained friends since 2018, were pictured hanging out in 2020, and still follow each other on Instagram.

Chris & Kem: Season 3

Chris Hughes and Kem Cetinay are definitely contenders for first place; they arguably invented Love Island bromances. They had hilarious banter and joint rapping skills, plus unreplicable moments, like trying to shave each other’s initials and Kem asking Chris to be his future best man.

Their friendship inspired multiple post-Love Island projects: they became a short-lived musical duo, releasing a pop-rap single “Little Bit Leave It” in 2017. They had a documentary Chris & Kem Straight Outta Love Island and a game show, You vs. Chris & Kem where they did challenges against British contestants. Every bromance that followed has been compared against this duo. Love Island wasn’t quite as popular as it is now, which made their friendship undeniably genuine rather than a way to win over fans. It’s been 5 years since their season, but they’re still known as one of the most unforgettable pairings of the series.

Luke T & Luke M: Season 6

Luke T and Luke M laughing together in Love Island

The best bromance of Love Island UK has to go to “The Lukes.” Luke Trotman and Luke Mabbott entered the villa together, helped each other find love inside the villa, and made it to the finale together. From Luke M helping Luke T prepare to ask Siannise Fudge to be his girlfriend and being ecstatic to watch the two reunite after Casa Amor, to Luke T keeping Luke M warm on the day beds one day and offering to share the sofa with him after Luke M’s dumping by Natalia Zoppa, these two were clearly meant for each other.

Fans rave about how real their connection seemed and how much energy their bromance brought to the entire villa. They brought out the most positivity and personality in each other, and their constant proximity alone showed that they truly loved each other. They've also gone on double dates since leaving the show, done joint interviews, and hyped each other up on social media.
