Freshly eliminated Love Island contestant Joe Garratt said he plans to wait for his former bedmate Lucie Donlan after viewers voted to break them up in a surprise double-elimination. Garratt and Donlan were "coupled up" before viewers voted them one of the least compatible couples in the house, leaving them vulnerable to elimination.

Garratt and Donlan’s relationship had sparked upset among viewers as some felt his behavior was controlling. Garratt had told Donlan he didn't like her being friends with Tommy Fury and the other male contestants, trying to convince her to try and befriend some of the girls instead. The fans rallied together to rid Donlan of her controlling bedmate, by voting out Garratt to give her a chance to couple up with another man in the villa. However, it doesn't sound like Garratt would be happy if Donlan moved on so quickly.

As Garratt was leaving the house and saying his goodbyes, he vowed to Donlan that he wouldn't date anyone else while she was still in the villa, saying, "I promise you I'll literally be waiting for you on the outside." Garratt reiterated this to the cameras before leaving the island, adding, "I've definitely fallen for the girl, so I hope there's a future." While fans might not have seen the chemistry between the couple, they both appeared devastated when finding out Garratt would be going home. Donlan immediately broke down in tears, saying, "I'm just gutted because you can clearly see that Joe and I clearly have feelings for each other."

Garratt's promise to Donlan has put her in a difficult position, which viewers saw in a sneak peek of Wednesday's episode. In the clip, Donlan is seen crying and debating whether or not she's betraying her former bedmate by staying in Spain and waiting for the next batch of singles. She said, "If he was in my position, what would he do?" This footage sparked concern for a lot of fans, who are worried about Donlan's mental state.

Apparently, viewers voted Garratt out, wanting Donlan to have a second shot at meeting someone in the villa. As it so happens, Donlan has already found a new bedmate - and it happens to be her ex's ex. She and new cast member Arabella Chi both dated former Love Island contestant Charlie Frederick. Donlan recognized Chi right away after stalking her Instagram and the two became fast friends, even sharing a bed once Garratt left the show. In the next episode, fans will get to see if Donlan ends up sharing her bed with any of the other men on the island, or if she will stay faithful to Garratt and leave the villa to pursue an off-screen relationship.
