In February of 2020, Netflix released a new dating show with a unique concept that puts the notion 'can love be blind?' to the test. Love is Blind proved to be a hit for the streaming service that fans want more of. Now that it's been over a year since the finale, fans know which couples got married, broke up, or didn't even make it past a few rounds of dating.

With two couples making it all the way to the alter, fans have their favorites as well as opinions. But not every opinion is popular or shared by many. Fans took to Reddit to discuss their unpopular opinions of the show and its contestants.

Lauren & Cameron Are Overrated

Lauren and Cameron were the crowd-pleasers in the bunch. They hit it off right away and had an amazing connection. In the Love is Blind: After the Alter special, it was revealed that the couple is still together and looking to start a family.

However, one fan of the show wasn't so convinced by this romance. "Lauren and Cameron are a bit overrated," they wrote. This is unpopular mainly because, among the couples, they were seen as the strongest by almost every viewer.

Mark Is The Worst

Before the ending of Love is Blind was revealed, fans were hoping that Mark and Jessica would break up after realizing how out of sync the two were. However, they stuck it out until ending it at the alter.

While most fans adored how sweet and truthful Mark was, one Reddit user had the opposite opinion. "I genuinely disliked Mark," they wrote. Furthermore, they "didn’t feel bad for him" when Jessica broke his heart at the altar.

The Show Needed Jessica

Did Love is Blind need Jessica to be successful? That's what It512 thinks. They wrote, "The show would have been boring without [Jessica]." Jessica did make the show entertaining because of her consistent issues with her relationship with Mark, but she wasn't the reason the show succeeded.

She added a dramatic aspect to the unique experiment but it was the connections between Gigi and Damien and Amber and Barnett that fans adored as well.

Lauren Didn't Want To Marry Cameron

Lauren and Cameron were one of the most level-headed and logical couples in the group. They were honest with each other and talked about all aspects of life, from family to race to children — they had great moments in their relationship on-screen.

But Figwink told Reddit that they don't think Lauren was as interested in Cameron as he was in her. "Lauren got peer pressured into staying through the engagement and getting married," they stated. However, the majority opinion is that Lauren did, in fact, want to marry him, which is why they're still together today.

Some Of The Contestants Had To Be Actors

With so many individuals looking for love on a reality TV show, it's easy to assume that there are a few people who were there for the fame. That's what Odi-Et-Amo told Reddit when they suggested that "Carlton and Diamond were actors to add drama."

Carlton and Diamond chose each other in the pod but broke up shortly after getting to know each other on a more personal level. Their breakup was explosive, which is why they think the two were actors but after watching Love is Blind: After the Alter, the opinion is that they were two souls who just weren't meant to be.

Every Contestant Knew What The Outcome Was Going To Be

Fans couldn't get enough of Love is Blind when season 1 ended and are hoping for a second season with new contestants. However, some thought the show was heavily produced. "10% of the show is real. 90% was production/for our entertainment," Odi-Et-Amo wrote.

They continued saying, "They all knew what was going to happen when they got to the alter." But with the amount of tears and raw emotion shown, the general opinion is that the show was real.

Jessica Was A Better Match For Barnett Than Amber

In the beginning, Barnett was stuck between Jessica and Amber. He eventually broke things off with Jessica and focused on a future with Amber, which worked out for him, but it was hard for Jessica to swallow.

User Carozoynarizoto thinks "Jessica was a better match for Barnett," even though Amber and Barnett had stuck it out 'till the end. After seeing Jessica's downfall of realizing she loved Barnett and wasn't attracted to Mark, it's an unpopular opinion to think those two would have worked.

Gigi & Damian Faked Their Romance

Gigi wasn't the best casting choice but she sure was entertaining. With her partner Damian, the couple fought often on-screen as they got to know each other. They broke up at the alter but continued to date outside of the show instead of diving into marriage. Musically_Gifted, however, thinks Gigi and Damian were just there for the cameras.

"Gigi and Damian are not really together and are just keeping up appearances at this point," they wrote. And while that's a hard pill to swallow, the couple made it work until breaking up this year.

Jessica Is The Only Real One On The Show

Jessica had some of the most dramatic moments on the show since she was one of the few in a relationship that she didn't see going anywhere. Hotpinksharpie thinks Jessica was the only real participant because she "talks more sense than any" other contestant.

They loved that Jessica "[refused] to play along," unlike the other contestants. However, Lauren, Gigi. and Kelly all spoke their truths similarly to Jessica. Gigi and Kelly didn't even end up marrying their partners, proving that she wasn't the only "real" contestant.
