Love Is Blind's controversial star Abhishek "Shake" Chatterjee is shading host Nick Lachey with his latest Instagram Story, and it is not pretty. Shake stirred up trouble all the way back in the pods when he began asking women coded questions in an effort to try and gauge their weight. Though he eventually changed his tune and apologized, what he would continue to do throughout the season was arguably worse. Shake got engaged to the lovely and kind Deepti Vempati, and could not go a single conversation without telling someone he was not sexually attracted to her. It got to the point where the cast, crew, even his own mother were on Deepti's side. With some members of the cast going so far as to warn Deepti against marrying Shake. Something that clearly paid off, as Deepti ended up rejecting him at the altar.
While Shake was never really a fan favorite, he solidified his villain status during the reunion episode when he refused to apologize to Deepti, and doubled down on every comment he ever made. Amid Shake's defense, he admitted while he was certain all the women in the room were beautiful, he was only sexually attracted to one: Vanessa Lachey. This did not go over well as Vanessa and her husband Nick were sitting right across from him. While Vanessa had already been stern with Shake, Nick laid into him, essentially making Shake the laughing stock of the reunion. Since then Shake has tried everything to get people to talk about him. From publically apologizing to Deepti, to going on Instagram Live and shading all of his costars, to now going after his latest target Nick.
In his latest Instagram Story Shake shared a clip from the show Newlyweds that didn't exactly show Nick in the best light. The show, which aired 19 years ago, followed a young Nick Lachey and his at the time wife Jessica Simpson as they navigate married life. The clip Shake shared featured Nick and Jessica getting into a car in which Jessica goes, "You don’t wanna open the door for me?" To which Nick declines. Jessica continues, "At the beginning of our marriage, you were so eager to open the door for me." To which Nick, unfortunately, responds, "That’s because at the beginning of our marriage I got laid."
While this already didn't look great, Shake captioned the story, "@NickLachey not even opening the car door for his wife. Sad." This clip alone is already bad enough, but it's Shake's intention behind it that makes it truly despicable. There's no defending Nick's words, they're inappropriate and sexist and clearly lack respect. However, Shake never mentions this clip is from nearly two decades ago. This act of omission will lead hundreds of his followers to see this clip and think this is how Nick is currently behaving. For Nick, this clip resurfacing could be truly damaging, but to Shake it's just his newest ploy in making headlines.
Shake's villain arc has continued to worsen as the talk surrounding Love Is Blind Season 2 has died down. It's almost as if without the show, or public approval, Shake is scrambling to stay in the headlines before most of them leave him behind. Shake has been spouting rumors on his live streams since the reunion aired, about everyone on the cast including people he wasn't close to. Given Nick was just the host, and has already become Shake's latest target, it's hard to tell who will be next.
