Iyanna McNeely is explaining why she and Jarrette Jones are the first couple from Love Is Blind to get divorced. While fans have seen a number of couples break up on the show, Iyanna and Jarrette are the first to dissolve a marriage that formed on the show. The pair announced their split less than one year after viewers saw them fall in love during the marriage experiment. Iyanna and Jarrette faced relationship issues early on due to Iyanna being Jarrette's second choice for a wife.
Mallory Zapata was Jarrette's first choice but turned down his proposal after accepting one from Salvador Perez. After suffering the snub, Jarrette quickly rebounded and asked Iyanna, who was happy to say "yes." But once the newly formed couples were on the group honeymoon trip, Jarrette and Mallory finally met in person and the sparks were visible. Both Iyanna and Salvador were offended by their spouse's clear attraction for one another. But they each moved forward in getting to know each other ahead of deciding to marry or not. In the season finale, Salvador realized that Mallory wasn't the one for him and opted out of marrying her. Iyanna and Jarrette moved forward with the process and tied the knot.
But after nearly a year of marriage, Iyanna and Jarrette released a joint statement this week announcing their divorce. Iyanna followed up the statement by responding to fans on Twitter who speculated about what caused the split. "We tried our best," Iyanna said to one fan who seemingly blamed Jarrette for the split. Another fan doubted how well the marriage experiment works and if people can really fall in love without seeing each other. But Iyanna said the experiment does work "depending on the people." She went on to explain what caused her divorce by explaining how "marriage is more than love and unfortunately we were incompatible on everything else." Iyanna responded to one fan who noted how "happy" she and Jarrette looked together. "We were 😭 but our lives are moving in such different directions," she shared.
Iyanna says she wishes the love she and Jarrette have for each other "was enough for marriage but we realized the hard way it isn’t." She retweeted some fans who called out the rumors about the divorce. When announcing the divorce, Iyanna and Jarrette credited the "different directions" they were each taking for causing the split. They also said they had no regrets with taking part in the televised marriage experiment. Fans had high hopes for Iyanna and Jarrette. They were one of two couples who ended up marrying in the season finale. Danielle Ruhl and Nick Thompson also tied the knot and are still going strong.
But there were many breakups during Love Is Blind season 2. Shaina Hurley and Kyle Abrams shared their messy split on the show. Shaina has since gone on to marry Christos Ladarkis after being engaged to Kyle. Meanwhile, Kyle has sparked dating rumors with Deepti Vempati, who was engaged to Abhishek "Shake" Chatterjee but turned him down after realizing he wasn't that into her. Natalie Lee and Shayne Jansen were also fan favorites but the couple parted ways at the altar after getting into a bad argument the night before the wedding. Iyanna and Jarrette have officially become the first divorced couple from the show.
