Deepti Vempati is one of the breakout stars of Love is Blind season 2, and her popularity and inspiring self-confidence would make her an ideal lead for the next season of The Bachelorette. Though The Bachelor franchise rarely brings in leads from outside Bachelor Nation, Deepti is worth making an exception for, and if she were to become the next Bachelorette, it could be the best season the show has ever seen.

Deepti went on Love is Blind to see if she could make a connection with someone without ever seeing them. She quickly began bonding with Abhishek “Shake” Chatterjee, another Indian cast member who had only dated white partners in the past. The couple got engaged in the pods, and it seemed like they were on track for a great relationship. However, Shake soon began to express a disinterest in Deepti personally, even though he often praised their emotional connection. The two never progressed their sexual relationship and on their wedding day, Deepti shocked everyone when she said “I choose myself” and left Shake at the altar. Her decision was widely applauded by fans and it’s expected that Shake is going to look exceptionally bad on the reunion episode

Deepti made a big impression on the Love is Blind audience. It was a no-brainer siding with her over Shake because she seemed to truly put effort into their relationship, while Shake was more interested in saying insulting things about Deepti behind her back. Viewers cheered when she left Shake high and dry at the altar, and her decision to choose herself was inspiring and makes her someone fans can root for. She would make for an extremely likable and sympathetic lead of The Bachelorette, and it would be hard for the audience not to fall in love with her.

And that’s not the only way she could enrich Bachelor Nation. There has never been a Bachelorette of South Asian descent (or any Asian descent at all), though there have been three Bachelorettes who are Black. However, that’s pretty much it in terms of diversity. Casting Deepti would do a lot to help women of color from wider backgrounds relate to the franchise. Plus, she would be bringing the Netflix reality TV audience with her. Love is Blind is an extremely popular show, and a crossover of this nature would be a boost to both ABC and Netflix.

It’s extremely unlikely that Love is Blind star Deepti will ever get a shot at being the next Bachelorette, but fans can dream. Netflix and ABC are two different networks, and there probably won’t be that kind of crossover any time soon. But, if the long-running dating show wants a lead who is charismatic, self-assured, well-spoken, and beautiful, producers need look no farther than Deepti.
