Gabrielle “Gabby” Nieves and Chris Graham are back for the new season of Love After Lockup to shut down the "gold digger" claims from Chris' family. Fans were first introduced to Gabby and Chris on Love During Lockup. Gabby was candid about her strained relationship with Chris' family over all the money that was spent from Chris' $100,000 settlement. Gabby claims she spent the funds on Chris, but his family is convinced she's only after Chris for his money. Despite the family drama and cheating suspicions, Gabby happily awaited Chris' release from prison.
Now on the outside, Chris is set to reunite with Gabby, and she's preparing for the showdown with his family. An exclusive WeTV clip from the season premiere shows Gabby informing her friend about her rocky relationship with Chris' family. Gabby informs her friend, who happens to be performing vaginal rejuvenation on Gabby, that Chris' sister informed her that her mother will be joining Gabby on the ride to pick up Chris from jail. "My relationship with Chris' family is sh*t," Gabby admits during her confessional. "The contact is minimal and I really like it that way because all they bring is drama." When asked what Chris' mother's issue is with her, Gabby admits "she thinks I'm using him. I'm a gold digger and everything."
Love After Lockup's Gabby Explains The 'Gold Digger' Claims
Gabby goes on to provide a backstory on where the "gold digger" claims originated from. It stems from Chris' $100K settlement he received after being badly beaten by Rikers Island guards. Once he received the money, he gave half of it to Gabby, and the Love After Lockup star claims to have spent it on "bills, our apartment, furniture, credit card debt, and a car." Gabby admits that Chris is now broke and has none of the money left, and she's been the one taking care of him. "Once the money was gone, his mother wasn't sending him any money," Gabby quips. "I was." Elsewhere, Gabby and Chris plan to get married, and his family is completely in the dark about the big decision.
Flashback clips show Gabby's time on Love During Lockup, where she battled it out with Chris' mom over where he would live upon his release. Chris' mother wants him paroled to her house and Gabby wants Chris at home in the apartment she got for them. Now that Gabby is set to marry Chris without her approval, it could spell trouble. The Love After Lockup couple also have to adjust to life together as a couple who's no longer long-distance. They will have to be just as involved as they were while Chris was incarcerated. The addition of cameras filming their every move could make things worse.
Season after season, viewers have watched many Love After Lockup couples end up heartbroken. A lot of inmates aren't the same way with their spouses as they were while behind bars. Many hopeless romantics come off as too overbearing for the recently released inmates. Social media has already teased the impending fallout between Gabby and Chris. But for now, Love After Lockup fans will at least be able to watch how things went once he got out of prison.
