Amazon has released a batch of brand new character posters for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, teasing the new series. Lord of the Rings is one of the most beloved franchises in the fantasy genre, and is making its big return this year. However, the new adventure will this time be told on the small screen through Amazon Prime. First developed in 2017, there has been a lot of mystery surrounding the latest TV series adaptation of J.J.R. Tolkien's massive universe. Not only has been one of the more secretive projects in the last few years, but also quite an expensive one. Reportedly, when Amazon committed to a five-season production run for The Rings of Power, the total cost was at least $1 billion.

Throughout the last few years, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has slowly been revealing a few new key details about the project. Despite having a massive cast of over 20 actors attached, the series has only revealed Galadriel as part of the line-up, played by Morfydd Clark. The Amazon series is set to focus on the Second Age of Middle-Earth, taking place several thousands of years before The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Throughout season 1, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will tell the tales of how the legendary rings were forged and explore Sauron's rise to power.

With The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power being just seven months away now, Amazon has debuted a new look at the series. While it is impossible to know every single character that The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power posters are focused on, one of them is very likely to be Sauron himself. From the dark-evil-looking sword to the sharp gauntlets, it would be a suprise if the poster depicts any other character but Sauron, though Amazon has yet to confirm this is the case. Since Sauron can take on different forms, it's quite possible that one or more of these posters may be an alternative version of the character, too. At least two of the character posters seem to be hinting at a few Númenorian characters, especially those that carry a sword engraved with a sun. And though no specific elf characters have been confirmed to appear in The Rings of Power, several of the posters allude to a few characters from the elf kingdom. While there will be familiar characters from the Lord of the Rings lore in the new series, at least half of the posters must be for new players that weren't in Peter Jackson film trilogy.

Overall, despite not seeing a single face, the dedication to the costume and props work shows off The Rings of Power's massive budget. When looking at the fabric on some of the characters' costumes, there are incredible details displayed. With The Hobbit's Kate Hawley attached as costume designer, it is clear that the character looks come from the vision of someone who is already familiar with the Lord of the Rings world. It will be fascinating to see the reception from fans when The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power drops worldwide on September 2, and fans remain hopeful that an official trailer will reveal the faces of some of these mystery Middle Earth characters.
