Netflix’s reboot of Lost In Space follows the plight of the Robinson family, the mysterious Robot, and other stranded travelers thrown off track on the way to a new colony called Alpha Centauri. With the release of the third installment of the series, fans are ready to get reacquainted with their favorite characters.
Though Will and the rest of the Robinson clan are on the other side of a wormhole far beyond the Earth and its celestial sphere, the influence of the zodiac on their character traits still relates. How do the astral pilgrims’ personalities match with the symbolic traits of the zodiac signs?
Aries: Will Robinson
As the star of the show, Will Robinson has grown into his fiery Aries energy. The youngest Robinson, he is a gifted and determined scientist like his mother, Maureen.
Although timid and scared at the start of the series, when he finds and bravely saves The Robot things change for the better. His relationship with The Robot has helped Will be more courageous, doing what needs to be done to protect and save his family and others. He is intelligent and curious, and with the right guidance, he could be a great Aries leader as he matures.
Taurus: Angela Goddard
Loyal and steadfast, Tauruses draws inspiration from the symbolic bull. The grounded earth sign is associated with regal gracefulness, diligence, bull-headedness, and contentment.
Angela Goddard, as a hardworking and dedicated scientist, is a strong Taurus. She suffers from PTSD due to her husband’s dramatic death during the initial attack on the Resolute. In typical Taurus fashion, Angela lingers on the death, leading her to be manipulated by “Dr. Smith” into trying to kill the Robot.
Gemini: “Dr. Smith”/June Harris
Symbolized by the celestial twins, Geminis can have a two sided-personality. June Harris brings this trait to her dual life as she initially uses the false identity of Doctor Smith to gain the trust of others.
Her dealings with the colonists are manipulative and always with an ulterior motive to ensure her own survival. Intellectual and cunning, she channels her air sign energy into every underhanded action, including poisoning and murder. She does let her softer side show sometimes as well when forming bonds with various members of the Robinson family.
Cancer: Vijay Dhar
As Penny’s love interest, Vijay Dhar brings out the emotional and sensitive side of Cancer. Like its symbol the crab, Cancers needs to build up trust before revealing true feelings.
They value family above all, which leads to Vijay losing the trust of Penny when he breaks a promise by informing his parents of the truth about the planet dying in the show’s first season. Eventually, he is able to regain her confidence and they enter a relationship. Cancer and Pisces are very romantically compatible.
Leo: Don West
Don West brings swaggering drama to his Leo personality. Like the regal king of the jungle that symbolizes the sign, Leos love being in the spotlight and thrive on drama and attention.
Like other handsome heroes that embody Leo energy, he is a pilot, mechanic, and smuggler with a soft side (in this case, for chickens). Leos have magnetic personalities that draw people (like Judy) into their orbit, making their charm and charisma impossible to resist.
Virgo: Maureen Robinson
Robinson family matriarch Maureen is a fiercely driven and devoted mother who really vibes with her Virgo nature. Represented by the goddess of wheat and agriculture, Virgos are detail-oriented, dedicated, and independent.
Practical and rooted in reality, she does whatever it takes to keep her family together, including making sure Will is able to be part of the colony program despite failing the qualification test. Not only is she a protective mother, but also an accomplished Astrophysicist, dominating work-life balance like a true Virgo.
Libra: Captain Radic
Libra, represented by the scales of justice, is the star sign most aligned with equality, peace, and service to others. As captain of the Resolute, Captain Radic is a diplomatic leader who follows the rules of law and order and cares for those in his charge.
In typical trusting Libra fashion, though, he is outsmarted by June Harris when he confronts her about her crimes. The desire for balance and harmony and willingness to self-sacrifice to save others are Libra traits that are important in a leadership position such as Radic’s.
Scorpio: The Robot
Enigmatic and dynamic, Robot is a quintessential Scorpio. Robot’s childlike persistence is a typical trait of this water sign. He possesses immense strength and incredible knowledge that grows with each human interaction.
He forms an incredible robot-human bond with Will and seems to be fascinated with learning how humans think and act, modeling behaviors and responding to Will’s guidance. His mysterious origins and fluid, scorpion-like appearance embody the water sign.
Sagittarius: Grant Kelly
Grant Kelly, the long missing and presumed dead biological father of Judy Robinson and first husband of Maureen Robinson, is a great example of the Sagittarius spirit. The adventurous travelers of the zodiac, Sagittarius are wanderers with a thirst for knowledge.
Kelly was at the helm of a dangerous mission exploring the unknown beyond a rift in space, a brave adventure for the fiery sign. Sagittariuses are adaptable and flexible, which is what Grant Kelly has to channel when he is found by Judy and welcomed into the extended Robinson family.
Capricorn: John Robinson
John Robinson, patriarch of the Robinson family, is the embodiment of Capricorn’s foundational and steadfast ways. Practical, patient, and caring, he instills in his three children life skills for survival and success.
As an earth element, Capricorns are grounded, hardworking, and focused on building a better future. He is a seasoned Navy SEAL, which contributes to the strong discipline Capricorns are known for. His reserved Capricorn nature amplifies the strained relationship he has with his wife, Maureen, at the start of the series.
Aquarius: Judy Robinson
As the oldest of the Robinson children, Judy is a quintessential Aquarius: intellectual, stubborn, and revolutionary. Like her water-bearer counterparts, Aquarians are humanitarians dedicated to making the world a better place.
Judy takes on the role of protector and savior of the 97 children, dedicating herself to their survival. A trained and highly skilled medic, she wants to be taken seriously despite her young age, and her chosen field as a doctor is the ideal career path for a high-achieving water-bearer.
Pisces: Penny Robinson
Penny is thoughtful and intuitive, using her writing to draw connections to the world. Initially feeling like a fish out of water within her family structure, she has proven herself to be witty, brave, and essential.
Like her Pisces counterparts, she is sympathetic and caring. Drawing on the empathetic nature of a Pisces, Penny is able to read people well and use that to her persuasive advantage. Pisces are romantics as well, and Penny finds love in her budding romance with Vijay.
