In 1812, a novel called The Swiss Family Robinson was published. In 1965, a reimagining of this story was told through a television series titled Lost in Space. And in 2018, a reimagining of that series premiered on Netflix

Lost in Space focuses on a family of space colonists, and they have certainly experienced some high highs and low lows while on their adventures off of Earth. While fans wait for the third and final to drop, they can imagine what houses these characters would end up in, if they were part of the Sorting Ceremony at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!

Maureen Robinson: Ravenclaw

Molly Parker plays the mother/wife of this main group, Maureen Robinson. She is an aerospace engineer and a mission commander, hoping to colonize and begin a new and better life on Alpha Centauri.

Due to her extreme intelligence, Maureen seems most like a Ravenclaw. She can be more logical than emotional, though she is still a kind and caring mom, spouse, and friend.

John Robinson: Gryffindor

Lost in Space Toby Stephens as John

Actor Toby Stephens plays John Robinson, who is the main father/husband within this story. He is a former U.S. Navy SEAL, and his job pulled him away from home quite a bit. Now, though, he is traveling through space with his family, and they have become closer than ever, due to all of the ups and downs they have faced.

While they all band together during struggles, John is turned to quite often as a leader. Time and time again, he has had to make tough and brave decisions, without knowing if they would survive or not. His courage and guidance make him seem most like a Gryffindor.

Judy Robinson: Gryffindor

While John is not Judy Robinson's biological father, they have a close-knit bond, and she may follow in his footsteps at Hogwarts, as she, too, would be a good fit for Gryffindor.

As the oldest Robinson kid, she is a doctor and field medic who learns quickly and who courageously steps up and helps anyone, at any time, no matter what. Judy, played by Taylor Russell, is very passionate and almost too much so sometimes, as she can take things very personally. Plus, just imagine how much her athleticism would help out the Gryffindor quidditch team!

Penny Robinson: Ravenclaw

Mina Sundwall plays the middle child, Penny Robinson. She is daring like a Gryffindor, determined like a Slytherin and kind and honest like a Hufflepuff, but it is easy to imagine her getting sorted as a Ravenclaw. This is interesting since she sometimes feels undervalued, especially by her mom… yet they could both end up in the same house!

Yes, this result could come about since she is witty (with lots of sarcastic jokes and remarks), a critical thinker, and a creative writer.

Will Robinson: Hufflepuff

Will Robinson from Lost In Space

The youngest member of this family is Will Robinson, and he is also closest to The Robot. This character has been shown to be anxious yet understanding and intelligent yet cautious. Despite all that they have gone through, he has kept the faith and never given up.

Based on these traits and his attitude, it is possible that Will, who is portrayed by Maxwell Jenkins, may be a Hufflepuff.

Don West: Gryffindor

Outside of the family, there are a couple of other notable main characters, such as Don West, Ignacio Serricchio’s character. He is a ship mechanic and a smuggler, as well as the owner of a pet chicken named Debbie.

While he has made some questionable decisions and seems really rough around the edges, he is a real sweetheart. It has been proven numerous times that he would do anything to help the Robinsons. Therefore, he could find himself as a Gryffindor!

June Harris / Dr. Smith: Slytherin

Dr. Smith from Lost In Space

This story wouldn’t be complete without Parker Posey, who plays a character named June Harris, who is pretending to be Dr. Smith. She lies, cheats, tricks people, and has never fully won over anyone’s trust, on or off the screen.

Without a doubt, this cunning character would be sorted into Slytherin’s house.

Robot: Slytherin

Up next is The Robot, voiced by Brian Steele. Some of Robot’s top traits include being protective, being a quick learner and being strong and powerful. Robot has also shown emotion and care, such as mourning for the loss of an animal and standing up for his friend, Will.

This star is valiant, like a true Gryffindor; clever, like a true Ravenclaw; and loyal and hard-working, like a true Hufflepuff. It wouldn't be surprising, though, if The Robot ended up as a Slytherin, with its dedication, innovation, and determination.

Vijay Dhar: Gryffindor

A supporting character on Lost in Space is Ajay Friese’s character, Vijay Dhar; he is Victor's son and the boy whom Penny likes. The more time he spends with the Robinsons, the more bravery and strength he has had to muster up and put on display.

And because he has helped out and been so sweet to Penny, he is another one who could be sorted as a Gryffindor.

Angela Goddard: Ravenclaw

Finally, there is Angela Goddard. Played by Sibongile Mlambo, she is an engineer who found a way to offset the rust virus these characters came into contact with once. Furthermore, after The Robot killed her husband, she set out to kill it.

Her intelligence and logical thinking make it seem like she would fit in well as a Ravenclaw.
