In the new action comedy, The Lost City, Sandra Bullock plays Loretta Sage, a talented romance-adventure writer, known for featuring cover model Alan (Channing Tatum) as the heroic "Dash." When Loretta is kidnapped while promoting her new book by a clever billionaire (Daniel Radcliffe), who wants to discover the missing treasure from Loretta's new fiction, the bumbling Alan tries to come to her rescue.

We chat with The Lost City directors Adam & Aaron Nee at the film's premiere at the SXSW Festival about working with star Sandra Bullock, as well as what to expect from their adaptation of Masters of the Universe.

Screen Rant: We gotta talk about the sparkly jumpsuit because I can't even wear one for one evening, let alone like Sandra having to wear that for, what? Three, four months?

Aaron Nee: We kept asking her leading up to shooting, "Are you sure you want to do this? Are you sure you want to do this? You're going to go in a river. You're going to go out on the ocean. You're going to be in a jungle. Are you sure you want to do this?" And, to her credit, not only the sparkly jumpsuit, but the high heels for real in the jungle. She said it took her a month for her feet to recover.

Adam Nee: The price of comedy. It made it funnier and she committed. It was amazing. It was a really inspiring thing that she did.

I have been cackling at this trailer every time I'm in the movie theater. How much fun did you guys have making this? Was every day on set just hilarious?

Adam Nee: It was so fun. Also because there was so much goodwill with the cast and crew. Everyone loved each other, so there was so much laughing. It was an incredibly difficult movie to make because we were in the jungle, in COVID, in the heat, wearing K-95s. But somehow, everyone found a way to just smile through it, have a fun time. You will see how much fun we had when you watch the movie.

Aaron Nee: It shows. It's everything you dream in your wildest dreams that it would be like. They say don't meet your heroes, but this is a situation where it was absolutely everything you would dream of, putting them together.

Just that magic moment, right.

Adam Nee: Sandy didn't mind me quoting While You Were Sleeping to her verbatim. They were very generous.

I love that. Now, I wanted to ask you guys what you were doing next. But I think I actually know. You're doing Masters of the Universe.

Adam Nee: Masters of the Universe next. Yes. Very exciting.

Anything you can share about that? I know Kyle Allen was just announced.

Adam Nee:  Yes. I think with Masters of the Universe, for us, from growing up with it, we just wanted to make something that captured that fun and color and bright and vibrance and the empowerment that it gave little kids. We just wanted to capture that. So that's what we hope to have.

Aaron Nee: Yeah, and Kyle's perfect for it because we also want to take a new audience on this adventure. So we're treating it as an origin story and Kyle, there's not a more perfect person to come in and embody that.

I love Kyle. He did this movie called The Map of Tiny Perfect Things. It's so good!

Adam Nee: The most charming human being you'll ever meet in your life. Yeah, he's wonderful.

Aaron Nee:  He's that charm that you see on screen. He's like that in real life. He's just the sweetest guy.

I can't wait to see this movie. It's my first SXSW movie!

Adam Nee: Well, it's a tiny indie in the spirit of South By! So thanks, guys.
