Lost is considered one of the greatest TV dramas in the so-called Golden Age of Television, as are Breaking Bad, The Wire, and The Sopranos. It's been over ten years since the show ended and disappointed its fair share of fans, but that didn't discourage most of them from watching it over and over again. It has it all: Sci-Fi elements, complex interpersonal relationships, and outstanding screenplay.

Certain scenes linger in the memories of all fans. Most won their rent-free residence thanks to the emotional charge and suspense they carry, while others got there because they portray some of the few light-hearted and care-free moments the characters enjoyed in the show.

Jin & Sun Die Together

Sun and Jin drown together in Lost

No death in Lost was as heartbreaking as Jin and Sun's - especially considering that they weren't on the best terms when they crashed on the island and that they spent a lot of time separated. For the longest time before they were finally reunited again, Sun thought that Jin had died in the Kahana freighter explosion.

In the end, they drowned together in a submarine. Sun was stuck there, but Jin refused to abandon her. As touching as that sentiment is, he abandoned their daughter by doing so.

A Small World

Jack looking sad on Lost

No fan could ever forget the scene Jack and Sawyer share in "Exodus". Up until that point, they were set up as rivals. While most castaways gladly accepted Jack as their leader, Sawyer refused to follow his rules. Sometimes, he even came across as the show's villain.

As Jack and Sawyer said their goodbyes, Sawyer told the doctor about another American doctor he met at a certain Australian bar, named Christian. He told Jack that the doctor was proud of his son and that he loved him, resolving Jack of all the guilt and regret he felt regarding his father's death.

Locke & Jack Have A Stand-Off At The Button

Locke argues with Jack over pushing the button in Lost

Jack and Locke have described themselves as "a man of science" and "a man of faith", respectively. When it came to pushing the mysterious button in the hatch that set the timer to 108, it truly was a question of both faith and science.

"Why do you find it so hard to believe [that the button is real]?" Locke asked Jack. "Why do you find it so easy?" Jack replied. The tension rose with each passing second, but the conflict de-escalated when Jack gave in and pushed the button as Locke was urging him to do.

Fun Times With The Van

Hurley starts up the old Dharma van on Lost

Because of all the mysterious forces that dwell on the island, Lost has a lot of scenes that look like they came straight out of a horror movie. There are some bright exceptions, though, like the guys jump-starting the old Dharma van in season 3.

In this unforgettable scene, Charlie, Hurley, Jin, and Sawyer stopped being merely fellow survivors of a plane crash - they became friends.

Meeting Desmond For The First Time

the opening scene of season 2 in the hatch in Lost

Desmond Hume is one of the best characters that weren't a part of the show from the start and he got one of the best introductions in the entire history of TV shows. As season 2 begins, fans saw an unknown man going about his regular day with "Make Your Own Kind Of Music" by Mama Cass keeping him company.

The music came to a halt when he heard a ruckus in the distance. It turned out it was Jack and Locke who just opened up the hatch. What a glorious way to introduce the season!

We Have To Go Back, Kate

Jack telling Kate "We have to go back" in Lost

Fans of Lost were familiar with flashbacks by season 3, but they didn't yet know of the concept of flash-forwards. The very first flash-forward on the show is Jack talking to Kate, urging her that they have to go back to the island.

The realization that they had left the island was bone-chilling and mind-blowing at the same time. Survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 spent seasons trying to get rescued without ever realizing that their lives had more meaning on the island.

Locke's Big Reveal

John Locke tries to do the walkabout in Lost

John Lock was one of the most tragic characters. His flashback reveal was just one of the many instances when fans felt sorry for him.

John Lock wanted to do the walkabout in the Australian outback, but he was denied because he was a person with a disability. "Don't tell me what I can't do, ever!" he desperately yelled, but to no avail. The bus left without him.

Juliet's Book Club

The others see the plane crash in Lost

Another season opener that lives rent-free in every fan's head is the scene that introduces season 3. It was Juliet's screen debut. She was just hosting a book club when what seemed to be an earthquake shook the ground.

They all went outside to see what had happened. As Juliet looked to the sky, she saw a plane crashing down. It was no other than Oceanic Flight 815, which meant that the scene fans just saw transpired on the island.

Not Penny's Boat

Charlie show's Desmond that his hand says "Not Pennys Boat"

A certain Reddit user claims that Charlie's death was way too overrated, but of course, this is just one of the many unpopular opinions about Lost on Reddit. In reality, if fans of the show had to list the scenes that spring to mind the fastest, the iconic "not Penny's boat" moment would definitely be in the top 5.

There are several reasons why this scene resides rent-free in the show's fanbase. Charlie died, which was a tragedy enough in itself since he was one of the most likable characters on the show. Then, there was also the big reveal: the boat was not Penny's. So, whose was it?

The Phone Call In "The Constant"

Lost Desmond Call Penny

No Lost list is complete without mention of "The Constant", as it is the one episode that pulls on the fans' heartstrings the hardest. The scene was built up for so long that the expectations for its execution were sky-high. Nobody was left disappointed, though.

Penny waited for Desmond's call for eight long years. It didn't last long - they professed their undying love for each other and Penny told him she was looking for him for three years.
